I had a wonderful Christmas, aside from the not so subtle requests to detransition.  My mom did give me a card with cash... Not exactly a Victoria Secret gift card, but she knew where the money was going to go... so the fact that I got it in the first place, was pretty accepting...  At least that's the way I want to see it.  I was up most of the night debating on what I should spend the money on and I finally decided that, "out of respect for my mom's feelings on the subject", I am just going to forego the feminine gifts for myself and get myself a new carry gun. My new motorcycle jacket (women's) has two pockets for concealed carry, but are about half the size of the ones sewn into my old motorcycle jacket (men's).  Needless to say my old carry guns won't fit and still be concealed.  I'm a little bummed that my .45LC single action wont fit without imprinting; nothing says get away from me better than a single action army revolver. I guess all good things must come to an end, and change is what I signed up for with transition...  So I am going to look at a Browning Hi Power .40 S&W. I think mom will be happier with me getting a gun over clothes. She knows trans is not accepted and met with a  lot of hostility in my home town.  That's about it from me... just wanted to share.  :)

Ah, nothing says "Please desist, sir, as you are bothering me" quite like a good old fashioned hand cannon.  A good choice.  It reminds me of the old service .45, the 1911 A1.  Probably more reliable though, I'd hope!  ;)

(Non-USAians:  In the US, carrying something like this is not merely a right, it is a rite of passage, and in select regions, a necessity for us.  I speak from sad experience.  Let's please not start THAT debate here.  Harley very likely NEEDS this for safety, and is trained to handle firearms safely, as am I.  Thanks.)

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

It's similar to the old 1911s. Its circa 1935 design by John Browning (same man that designed the 1911). All of Brownings guns were reliable and very ergonomic. The 1935 HI Power is slimmer than the 1911 and has a slightly more positive safety. IMHO

I grew up around Motorcycles, Horses, and Guns. I carried the M9 in the army. Never been a fan of the baretta platform.

Anywho... You are correct. I live out in the Wild West, in the land that time forgot. You routinely have to shoot cyotes and wolves in your front yard. We get bear and mountain lions too. The sheriff isn't that accessible to run them off for you.

That is a nice gift you got.  :-)

I have been thinking about getting my CCW renewed as I let it expire a few years ago.  At that time I was carrying my M1911 (what I carried in the Army - Old School).  I have a nice .380 Beretta 85 too that might be easier to conceal with tight jeans.

Although the rubber grips have their place, I have to say that I am a sucker for wood grips.
