I was talking about male purses in another thread. Here's some articles I'd like to share on the subject.

I think all the bags in the GQ article are ugly as heck and don't look comfortable at all. I also don't particularly see a point of carrying a bag that small. If I'm going to carry a bag, it's because I need to carry something that doesn't fit in my pockets. I can't think of anything I would want to carry that would need to be small enough to fit in that bag but so large that it doesn't fit in my pockets.

I like bags a lot. But in terms of daily utility, given the amount of flexibility that exists in the typical male wardrobe, there is absolutely no need for me to carry a bag unless I'm carrying around a laptop or tablet. All of my pockets have something in them, but they don't look bulky, they're not uncomfortable, and I don't feel weighed down by them.

I don't think carrying a bag like the one pictured in the second article would make you stand out as a guy in normal everyday life. I do think you would stand out if you carried one like in the GQ article. BUT - if that's what you like, that's what you like. Confidence is key in pulling off most wardrobe or accessory choices. So just own it.

I tend to stay busy and active and travel around on a bus all day making many stops and not coming home in between because there's no time so I have to use some sort of bag. A friend gave me a bowling ball in a very nice small genuine leather backpack. It's a very masculine bag. I also have a green messenger bag with a red cross on it that's made to look like the medic bags in WW2. I have a few women's purses that I like, but am trying to get more androgynous ones if they're women's purses.

My backpack is about as close as I would get to a man bag. It's got a Penis Angel pin on it ;D

The bag looks alright to me.

I'm all for people dressing how they want and neglecting gender norms. If men wanna carry purses that's cool. I doubt I ever would though, because it seems more troublesome.

On the other hand, I don't know what's the deal with Americans thinking that European men carry purses. I'm not sure I've ever even seen it.  ???

Yeah, I see people with wallets, but not much else

I HATE wallets. Having one in my pocket always feels awkard and sometimes it even cuts of blood circulation while sitting and its in the traditional 'back pocket' location. (Especially with my bony bottom.) I carry a black messenger bag at all times with all sorts of band patches on it. It can hold EVERYTHING. Was pretty inexpensive from the army surplus store. :3
