Most of you know my trip to Thailand for my GRS is in 6 days. I will be traveling with  ANA Japan (ANA) who graciously offered to upgrade my seats from Economy to Business Class for the 14 hour flight from Chicago to Tokyo and the return flight back. This is so amazing I can't thank them enough! The seat reclines back into a lay down bed, so will be such a blessing especially on the return flight! Any time I travel to Asia going forward I will be flying with their airline! They are extremely Trans and LGBT Friendly!

I cannot begin to thank them enough!

Someone wrote about their business class...

"I'd argue that this is the best business class product nonstop between the US and Japan, given that ANA has fantastic service and food, and the business class seats on this plane are awesome as well."

These are the seats!

Woo hoo!   I'm so happy for you.  Finally!  And that upgrade from ANA!  Wow!  I know from the San Francisco/Shanghai flights how important more room can be.  I also remember the price tag.  8|.  It's great that they gave you that upgrade.

You'll be going in style!

I'm usually worn out by the 5 hour flight from Seattle to DC. I can hardly comprehend a 14 hour flight.

It's a total of 21 hours, but try to imagine flying economy all the way, sitting on tender lady parts...

1 hour 44 minutes Nashville to Chicago
14 hours from Chicago to Tokyo
5 hours 5 minutes Tokyo to Bangkok

and back

I flew Chicago to Hong Kong a couple years back. 18hrs in the air is no joke. Happy for you. Hope you have a safe trip.

In 2003 my ex and adopted from China...that flight was super long - Ottawa to Vancouver, then Vancouver to Shanghai.
Would of loved a bed.

Good luck!!

Hi Susan,
You will really enjoy the upgrade. I make the 14 hour Chicago to China flights several times a year. There is no way I would have survived sitting on a 14 hour flight after SRS, I barely made my hour and a half flight back home (sitting on my donut)!

the A380 is an awesome plane. its the only one that has that type of seat i believe. hmm time to start saving for that lol amongst everything else.i sleep like a baby on long hall flights. come from a big noisy family and flew thousands of hours growing up in military planes. commercial flights r luxury for me.

been on dc8, c130, c160, 737,747 jumbo, a320, multitude turbo props, umbrea craft and airbus. airbus planes are truely amazing craft, umbreas are nice and zippy planes.

been on a dream liner, its got miles to go to compete with airbus imo.

The seats seem to have gotten even smaller on Southwest. I last flew them a year and a half ago and I had to do a very unladylike leg spread around the seat in front of me in order to plant my back side in the seat.  :o

Oh and then the peanuts and crackers which were the inflight meal that I didn't dare eat because a cough might disturb my voice surgery.

I try not to complain much because I mostly fly for free as my wife works for an airline. But dang. When I worked for Boeing I regularly worked with a guy in the process of reconfiguring the plane for comfort. He demonstrated all kinds of nifty software. Ironically one of the things that made it possible to add rows of seats was because before cad cam materials were built with +- tolerances. The 777 was the first plane to be totally cad cam. So the older planes were considered "custom built" often varying in length up to a foot and a half. Once it was standardized they were able to sneak in a row of seats.
