I have HBP genetically. My mom does too. It was discovered before I started T. Testosterone elevates BP so if this continues I'd have to stop. I am now adjusting my diet to cut salt. Anyone here with naturally HBP on T? Anyone that had to stop T because of this?

I'm close to that point and had to cut my dose tremendously. I haven't used salt in decades. Meds can be adjusted to help. I will tell you that staying active and not smoking are a big deal in dealing with it. Also, mind your stress levels.

Just before I started T I had some inexplicable rise in blood pressure. What was odd was that one GP said she was concerned, but several others didn't say that, and I got put on T anyway.

I was concerned about it myself, so as soon as I started HRT I stopped eating stuff with added salt, started drinking decaff only (eurgh) started drinking more water, and stopped eating as regularly or as much as usual, and started exercising more. Water fasting helps, as does weight loss.

This reminds me next time I get my blood taken this month I should ask for another BP reading, see if it's normalized.

For me, I can feel when the BP is higher, it's an uncomfortable sensation, as is water retention which T increases sometimes. One of the worst is the sensation of being aware of the blood in my neck veins when I'm trying to sleep, which sucks. But that's not been so bad since I started T actually. I think it is reducing.

I had high blood pressure pre-T. It improved dramatically on T, though I can't tell you how much of that is from T or weight loss or diet changes.

My diet isn't great but it's not horrible. Definitely need to cut back the salt and drink more water. I'm not overweight at all. So it's frustrating as hell. I contacted my doc to see about changing my meds. I was reduced from .5 cc to .4 cc with my T dosage but I made need to reduce it more.

If lifestyle alterations don't seem to be helping, would you consider taking medications for it in lieu of stopping T? My mom (and most of her side of the family) has HBP that she's been controlling for years with hydrochlorothiazide. It's essentially just a diuretic so it's not as 'heavy' a drug as Lisinopril, for example.
I'm actually thankful T raised my blood pressure. Mine was stupid low pre-T--so low that doctors would always comment on it--as it always sat around 90/50.

My doctor put me on Lisinopril but a low dose just because my bp fluctuates too much because I'm heavy and I have migraines that jack it up. I've been doing fine but I'm hoping that when I'm in for blood work soon that things are starting to turn around as I change up my eating habits/exercise level. I think you'll be totally fine if you and your doctor are keeping an eye on things and you might figure out through trial and error what might be causing your BP to go up.
