Hello everyone

I transitioned in a foreign country quite some time ago and never outed myself to my GP here in the UK.  However, I want to start getting the hormones over here and get more consistent blood tests, etc.  All of my ID (since I transitioned before coming) says female, I've had GRS, etc.

Will my GP just take care of things or will I still get sent to some GIC?

I am currently waiting for the GIC, but if you have already had GRS and live as a female I can not see why they would make you go to the GIC and would not prescribe HRT as they do with any women after blood tests.

My Mum did HRT for sometime and all was done through the local clinic.

We have a doctor who specialises in womens health in our local clinic and it might be best to check for one in yours.

They most likely will send you to a GIC as many GPs still have no knowledge about how to medically treat and support trans patients. Some still think you need to see a general psychiatrist before even being referred to a GIC. Even if you hadn't already had medically transitioned technically there's nothing in law which says a GP can't prescribe hormones or take blood tests for HRT.

Thanks for the replies.   I guess I'll just start with talking to my GP - never hurts to ask. She's been a great GP, generally-speaking and friendly.  Of course, we all know how these sorts of things can go pear-shaped.
