Hey everyone,

I'm almost one month on HRT, Progynova (Oestrogen) and  T-blockers.

Although I have to say that I've smoked and drank alcohol quite often which I totally stopped yesterday so thats a good thing.

But is it normal that I didnt really experience changes?

Body hair is growing back less faster though, breasts are developing, I can surely feel that, but I didnt really noticed smoother skin or mood swings.

I assume the Oestrogen will work better now that I dont smoke and drink?

Just want some advice there :)

Thanks!!!

Results on estrogen will vary depending on a number of factors. Some people like me tend to have thicker skin that doesn't soften very much. If you have sun or weather damaged skin, you might not see as much of an improvement. As you have only been on HRT for a month, the blockers may not be high enough to shut down T production. You will know more after your next lab when your T and E levels can be determined.

It sounds like you are already experiencing the expected changes from what you listed. Take pictures and measurements often but it will be slow and gradual

Emma,

Be patient. I takes 2 to 3 years to fully develop a female body.

Stopping the smoking will make you less likely to have a blood clot.

I do not know how much you were drinking before, but moderate drinking is OK for most everybody.

Emma,
Congratulations on your 1 month! As with everyone, smoking and drinking have detrimental effects on the body. Skin, and face are certainly affected. Before I went on hormones (not long ago - yay!) I was drinking a lot, and since then I have not felt the need and have become more determined to be healthier. The HRT has calmed me, reducing my need for these things. I'm sure nearly all people have comparable experience.
What is great is that we're all here, supporting each other, and none of us are alone.
Take care,
Ev

Just one more thing.... Don't kick yourself for having a drink or smoke now and then!

Hey Emma

Congrats on the 1 month on HRT. I'm only about a month ahead. I have the sore chest with beginnings of breasts.
Things don't happen overnight and most of the early thing have an average of 3 - 6 month range from the things I've read. Of course everyone is different and YMMV. As for mood swings of that feeling of calm I can't say I really have gone through it. Buut then I like to think I have become more mellow in my old age anyway. Thoughts are up and down from one minute to the next though. I think most would attribute mine it to insecurity over whether I'm doing the right thing or not. I have notice the tears flow a bit easier now and watching old episodes of Highway To Heaven doesn't help.

Anyway patience is the key. Things will happen when they will. Relax, listen to your doctor, take your meds and enjoy the ride.

Congratulations!   :D

On a "low dose" without the real intent to socially transition the changes come in sometimes unexpected ways.  Be patient and enjoy the journey, try and really feel your way through finding yourself on the other side.  I know I THOUGH a lot was happening early on, but now almost a year in I am and feel completely different.

Hi Emma,
Yes totally normal not to see significant changes yet. some people do begin to see changes by the end of the first month but not everyone. 3 - 6 months is the usual for changes to really pick up. then From 6 - 12 months is when people tend to see the most dramatic changes. Depending on the change some can take up to 5 years. Such as fat redistribution.

Everyone is different and and your hormone levels will be a big factor in seeing chagnes. Getting your T down is super important. I don't know of it's affect on all the changes but I know it will kill breast development.

Good luck and enjoy the changes as they come  ;D
