Have any of you experienced arthritis or similar side effects from HRT? Do certain forms of HRT have any particular effect on someone who has arthritis?

The only reason I ask is because arthritis seems to be prevalent in older members of my family. I don't have any signs of it yet (late 30's), but I am curious if HRT will worsen or lessen the effects of it if I end up having to deal with it later in life.

Thanks a bunch!

I'm on injections and I already had arthritis in my late 20s. It really made no difference to me.
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

I also have Arthritis and it runs in my mother's side of the family.  When I saw the thread title, I was hoping HRT would help, so I could ask my doctor for some.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Already have severe arthritis, and just bad joints in general.
I don't see this getting better or worse. I've heard some methods of HrT can increase your risk of Ostheoporosis and other medical conditions older women are prone to, go figure, we're women and we're going to get older.
I wouldn't sweat it. =3

I could be mistaken, but it was my understanding that HRT was necessary to avoid bone problems after SRS.

Its hard to tell. I already like many on here suffered from it pre hrt, so its hard to tell If its naturally gotten worse, or the Hrt has effected it. Still its a small price to pay even if it has imho.

Depends on you genetics. I went 10 years without HRT and while it affected my appearance, my bones seem to be fine. I would recommend a person not risk it and receive at least a menopause level of HRT after surgery. I have heard stories of others who discontinued HRT and had major issues develop in a few years so what you heard is true in some cases.

I had an arthritis like pain in my left finger joints. Clenching my fist was hard and painful. My mom has Arthritis and I have all her genes, good and bad. Well after 2 weeks the pain just went away.
