I've just begun seeing an endocrinologist in preparation for my first visit with a therapist. My purpose in seeing the therapist, is that I'm a 57 year old TS who is facing retirement and the possible relief of inner conflict of believing from childhood to be female and being forced to live in the world as a physical male. Considering HRT as an option, I went to an endocrinologist to determine if I would, medically, be able to undergo the HRT, or if it would be too risky. I contracted the hepatitis probably 40 years ago, and have always, and still am, in good health. He has taken a blood test to determine viral load, and has all other necessary test reults from an April full check up.
Here's what I'm asking the group...does anyone have any real knowledge as to whether or not people with hep C are allowed to pursue HRT therapy, and if so, how is this assessment conducted? Does a biopsy need to be done? I need to know more then the one doctor alone says, with the one visit behind me, and the test results in a few days from now, I don't know if the doctor is eager to tell me what he thinks I want to hear or if he knows the answer, but wants to schedule as many visits as possible for himself and others before giving me an answer he already knows!
