I visited my friend today. We started to talk about gay and transsexual people (not in a bad way). I told her I am transgender. She said "But, no you can't be, you don't wear women's clothing!" Hahaha.

We had a good laugh about that when she realized what she said.

Then she asked if I can be transgender and bisexual at once. I educated her on that matter.

That seems to have gone well.  I find that so many people have no clue about transgender people, let alone the greater LGBTQ community.  I've ended up educating most of them.  Almost all of them asked me if I can continue to let them know how things are going with me because I'm the only transgender person (let alone friend) that they've ever known.

I also found that it was much easier telling friends about being transgender because there is less of an emotional connection.  With family, I always worried that somehow the emotional connection would get severed by coming out...like if they left me.  With friends, although it would hurt me, there was less emotional risk if it all went bad.

I'm happy for you that telling your friend went so well! Also funny story. Certainly started my day with a chuckle.  :D

A lifetime of depression and repressed emotions is nothing more than existence. I for one want to live now not just exist!
