Hello everyone, my name is Charlie, and I am a MTF. I have been on the hormones for a year and 3 months now and decided that it might be a good time to ask questions instead of passively looking for questions others have asked that answered my own.

for one. I suck with makeup, and want to know if anyone has any suggestions regarding that?

two. regarding my body shape, i am relatively unhappy with it even 15 months into the hormones, the last checkup with my doctor returned the bloodwork as low on estrogen, but I have been taking my medicine regularly, the thing i am severely unhappy about is my body shape, now when i started the hormones i was overwight quite a bit, I am 6 foot 3 inches and did weigh 315 pounds before I started, needless to say I have lost all that weight and am back down to a managable 210 now. but.....  15 months into the hormones my breasts still havent grown very much! im really kind of worried about that! I am also worried about getting that perfect sort of bubble butt i guess x.x
I am actually surprisingly happy regarding my midsection though as I already have that ) ( shape going on

what prompted me to make this post is i was browsing youtube after getting out of the hospital and, i have seen so many beautiful transgender girls on youtube, and their stories are amazing, most of them started in their teens and I started when i was 22.

as far as makeup, I would see an aestetitician.  Usually like $50 an hour and they can help get you a jumpstart.  That is unless you have a friend or 2 that are talented with the brush.  A lot of the makeup counters have aestetiticians to help with selection and application.  They will usually do it on the spot or you can schedule appointments.  I am an advocate for makeup brushes over using foam pads and puffs. For me it makes all the difference.

body wise you have quite a bit of time left for estrogen to do its thing.  Getting that bubble butt is a lot of working out.  That's easy... Breast development is going to be what it is going to be.  And they're going to be developing for a few more years.  In reality 15 months is like 1/5th the way to final development.  So I wouldnt worry.

What a lot of the you tube "transitioners" dont show in their videos is the facial feminization surgery, trechea shaves, and breast augmentations that they had to get them there faster.  Just waiting on hormones is not often the case.  Dont be too upset if you're not there yet.  And 22 is very young.  I was 35 when I began hormones.  You should get quite a bit from hormone therapy.

Hope it helps!  :)
At what point did my life go Looney Tunes? How did it happen? Who's to blame?... Batman, that's who. Batman! It's always been Batman! Ruining my life, spoiling my fun! >:-)

If you are dissatisfied with results from hormones, then you need to discuss this with your doctor and find out if perhaps an adjustment can be made. If your doctor agrees your estrogen is low, then it's likely they will make those adjustments. Having low testosterone is important too.

As regards to makeup, you can watch youtube videos, experiment with it, see what works and what doesn't on you. Have fun and enjoy the process.

Best of luck. :)
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

Hi charlieusf

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your time here at Susan's.

Hormones take time as you well know but speaking to your HRT Dr may in fact prompt a change in your regime. Have your bloods all been within proper limits? Any issue with High T...

The trouble with watching Utube is quite often there has been more than just HRT employed that they cannot/do not tell you about.

Makeup is one of the things I am not good at...neither are many cis women...My partner looked at me and said you have it all there you just need to practice...watch Utube if you get stuck. I am learning, all be it slowly...I went and had a make over at the MAC counter and they sold me an obscene amount of make up, but a complete look with instructions from start to finish...when think I am finished I always get another opinion and quite often will be told things that I have missed. If you like it, then practice and enjoy it, if you don't then that really is fine...that doesn't make you any less trans

Regards

Liz

thank you everyone for the replies and let me mention. The issue has never been with high T. even when i was young I never really had male puberty, until my 'parents' forced a doctore to take the male growth hormones when i was 13. i was developing breasts and curve and I thought of myself as a very pretty girl, may parents did not like tht so they made the doctor give the male hormones to me despite my protests. I had an over abundance of Estrogen and very little testosterone, and I am on very low T without the anti androgens, But I do continue to take the spironolactone

Hi Charlie!

The girls that answered earlier are spot on, but I would also like to welcome you and remind you that the kind of girls that do those You Tube videos don't seem to be an average cross section of MTFs, anyway. Just like cis women, the very fortunate ones make the most fuss over their appearance and seek attention, where the more average girls tend to just worry about their real lives and relationships. They are the amateur 'movie stars' of this generation, not average looking gals at all, not usually..

I hope you and your doctor get your HRT levels where you want them to be, and congrats on the weight loss, you are doing great with all that. I have a similar shape, and even tall cis women struggle with getting the bubble butt sometimes, I know I wish I was curvier! I hope to have work done at some point, if nature doesn't give me what I want, lol..

Hi Charlie,

I too sucked at makeup when I started. I'm not sure it's still even "there" yet but it seems to get me by. I learned from youtube. Thank god for the internet. I don't recommend any one paticular person but I've watched several. I learned several techniques from them, took a little from each and I get by. If you have the money, then by all means see a professional. They can teach you your shade, complimentary colors, etc. Good luck.
