What's the deal with HRT and flying, ladies? I'm going on a 21+ hour flight in April (for a consultation for FFS!). I take Progynova and Androcur, as well as having an E implant.

What are the risks associated with flying?

I'm going to ask my endo next week but I wanted to ask here as well. Thaaanks!

Hi Hon,

The risk is much the same for anyone on long haul flights and that is of DVT. You are young fit and under good health care. I suspect the endo in question may suggest compression stockings as a precaution and follow the exercise rules for long flights.

Of course business or first class helps if you can upgrade!!!!

Australia to Europe just wears you down. Boredom is the biggest issue for me.

Hey Cindy!!

Well I said 21+ hour flight but there is a stop over so I think I'll be fine. Business or first class? I wish! Full time student here remember... :P

We're flying at night so hopefully I'll be able to sleep. I'm bringing all my gadgets as well, hopefully I won't suffer too much from boredom...

Take aspirin and get up and walk once an hour. I got three clots in my right leg in 1993 from being bedridden. Not fun, but lucky they didn't go to my lungs. I ended up with post phlebetic leg syndrome though and have to wear a compression stocking and they put a vena cava filter in me.
