Im pre hrt and i really want to get get rid of my facial hair before my skin becomes super sensitive, how well does electrolysis work when im still being pumped with testostrone? Im worried that when i get done with it, itll just grow back again and i would have just wasted all that time and money on nothing? I dont have much facial hair, the only thing thats kind of thick is my upper lip hair, my chin gets stubbly but i have never grown out my beard so i dont even know how much facial hair im actually capable of. But anyways, has anyone have any success story with facial hair removal via electrolysis pre HRT?

I had the blend and because of the primitive state of HRT at the time, I am pretty sure my testosterone levels were still reasonably high. I would have had about 3 years of electrolysis before surgery and my beard was pretty well under control at that point. For that matter, about a year after starting electrolysis I went full time and growing facial hair out for treatment wasn't a problem. I would shave after treatment but the next 2-3 day would be grow days. One appointment would be Saturday and the other Wednesday after work. They weren't aware of my status on the job and I never received a comment about facial hair.

Hi Ashley

Jump on in their and get started...you have a finite number of hair follicles albeit average is about 40,000 of them so the sooner you start the sooner you will be finished. The more you can get done before you get started on HRT the better for you. If you have the right combination hair and skin you may get really good results from laser and reduce your need for Electrolysis.

The more comfortable you are when having Electrolysis done the faster and better your Technician can work...if you struggle with pain then you may need to look at a cream or injections. For me the only thing that really works is facial injections 30 minutes before treatment and I can lie perfectly still for an hour or more and let my Tech work. Some girls are really not bothered by it and hopefully you are one of those.

Regards

Liz

I did laser, and did pretty much all of it before starting HRT to great effect. little less than a year and a half of 1 session a month initially and then 1 every second month more recently, and I'm pretty much hair free now! Got a couple strays that we are gona deal with in time but I am at the point where I dont feel like I have to shave every day -and when I do its only to remove those very few (single digit) dark visible hairs.

Absolutely get going as soon as you can; its a long process so you wont regret getting started right away. I have very dark facial hairs and pale skin, so laser was incredibly effective for me; if you have such a combination I would highly recommend it.

I too recommend laser to start. It will get all the dark hairs so electrolysis only needs to get the light ones.  It's cheaper and gets does a pretty good job.  I'm getting 6 laser treatments on face and neck, 4-6 weeks apart for a total of $600 USD. This is just outside Chicago.

I was considering laser removal and still very much pre-hrt, glad to know it's a good idea to start ahead of treatment. I'm not 100% sure where I'm heading yet, but someone on another site that I used mentioned groupon, and I found a great value on there for a clinic that's not too far from home. Not planning on buying it yet, but good to know there are some great resources to help ease the pain on the wallet.

I used Groupon but in the end, I could have paid the same directly to the clinic.  Call the clinic to find out.

I started out with a couple Electrolysis appointments and switched to Laser. . .  14 years ago.   Laser worked perfectly for me but I did have quite a few clearings.  Fortunately, I'd paid a flat fee in advance for the treatment so extra clearings didn't cost me anything.  You'd never know I'd ever had any facial hair at all.  For me Laser worked perfectly.
