So I've been asking around different forums and I keep getting different answers. Really honestly I just want to know if my voice passes as female or if I sound trans. Here is a clip of my voice I just recorded: http://vocaroo.com/i/s1pFGtzjezAB Just want to hear some honest feedback. Thank you.

The sound quality isn't the best and I am not sure if what I am hearing is that or is in your voice. One of the issues is that the voice is low and flat for an extended period of time. The pitch is in the feminine range but the flatness is a masculine speech pattern which can cause some doubt for somebody who is listing. Because of the extended low time, I think I am detecting some vocal fry which can make the voice sound lower than it is. The vocal fry is very mild and were it stronger, it wouldn't have hinted of a low voice. It's better to avoid fry because it doesn't add to the voice. Your voice should pass feminine most of the time but with a little work, I think it would sound very good.

idk my voice is pretty high pitched naturally, idk wat to do at this point ill probably need surgery  :-\

You have plenty of pitch so it's just a matter of developing the proper speech patterns. A feminine voice is almost musical and surgery isn't going to give you that. Try following a female news caster on TV or a woman reading a story. Other than that, you might want to consider a speech therapist. Surgery is 50% surgery and 50% therapy. When you hear a really great surgical voice, there was some therapy somewhere along the line.

There are women with voices far lower than yours that still sound feminine. It's because of the way they use the voice and not because of the pitch.

If you aren't using PRAAT, go to the top of the voice forum and get a copy. Then compare your voice against the following chart.

Well does my voice at least pass for a woman? Or do I just sound "trans like"?

That's difficult to answer because it depend on how well the person listens to the voice. Most people would hear the voice as feminine. I am over sensitive to voice flaws because I have been taught to listen for them so I am your worst critic. I don't call voices trans but instead would say male, female or gender ambiguous. Your voice to me is feminine but uninteresting.

You are very close and you voice only need a little polish however I think it would pass as it is.

I found your recording hard to hear because it was so faint.  Not sure if it was that you were too far from the microphone or speaking to softly.

Overall it sounded feminine to me, I am not as nuanced as Dena in picking up vocal fry and other subtleties in your voice.  However, my past work with a speech therapist taught me that it is not only the pitch, resonance, and inflection; it is also how you speak in terms of gestures, posture, and presentation.  These can influence how a person "reads" the quality of your voice.  As I mentioned, your voice sounds feminine, so if you carry yourself well, I would assume you should have no problem passing in most everyday situations.

My 2 cents :)
