So I was recently advised to get hold of a set of hip pads as a stopgap measure between now and when I get on HRT. However, given that I have no clue what to look for I was wondering what advice people could give for creating a more convincing looking hipline than the one I currently have?

You have hips like me, by which I mean we don't really have much in the way of hips at all. I haven't worn any padding tho, my solution has been to wear tops and jackets that hug the waist and flare out very slightly near the end. Gives an illusion of a curvier body without having to wear any extras.

Did TRY some foam things once, absolutely hated it.. Felt uncomfortable and I think they were just too large cus they made me look very disproportionate. Good luck searching, I would recommend going for some only very slight ones based on my experience. A little bit extra is all you need :)

I too had to pad my hips and butt. I finally went to a hospital/spa in India and had saline implants over each hip and buttock. They really broadened my beam and have me womanly proportions. This is really the ultimate solution. When I left the hospital, I found I couldn't get the pants I wore in over my hips. Had to send my friend out for an emergency purchase.

My opinion is that less is more.  Too much can easily look fake and weird.
I use these that you can get on ebay:

Just one on each side. When I tried 2 on each side they looked weird.

They only add about 1/4" to 3/8"  to each side, but hey it's better than nothing and it is an improvement.
They work best with snug fitting jeans I think.

Well as it stands I was looking at something like this but I'm not sure.

That looks veeery similar to and is foam padded just like the one I tried, and I would personally recommend against it.. I have very similar hips to you, and they made mine look very awkward and strangely bulky, unnatural. Haven't tried the ones Jane Emily suggests, but if she's happy with them I am certain they are a better choice than the one I went for (that you are considering).

Just my personal opinion on it though; really didn't flatter me at all and I've never used the damn thing beyond trying it on initially..

While in transit every day I see all different shaped women at the bus station some women have no hips and other have a little and then alot depending on there shape and how much weight they carry, but nice fitting cloths will show your natural shape without looking funny or people staring at you and and being trans you just want to blend in with others without them clocking you,

Cheers Tracy

Just one on each side.

Correction/elaboration:  What I meant was one on each hip.

Try a corset. It won't make your hips any bigger. But it will make your waist smaller. It's all about proportion.

Try a corset it will make your waist smaller and give the illusion your hips are wider.

I guess the problem with wearing a costume like that is it means I can't really use a lot of those tricks. Hrm.

I too have non-existent hips similar to your body shape and I was looking for a stop-gap until HRT in a couple months can start changing my body shape.  For me, my butt is actually pretty shapely despite not having hips so I was looking for more hip pads than butt padding. I bought a pair of these and so far have been pretty happy.  Without a corset they look good, with a corset they look amazing.  I wear them a lot under leggings and other form fitting dresses and skirts.  The pads are removable so I can add or subtract as needed.  They also fit tight enough to help with tucking as well.

I've also been considering hip enhancers until nature hopefully helps me out. I came across this company:

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with their products?

wearing a waist cincher and or a corset does make you looked to have larger hips. I feel today that  all sizes out there.

A corset doesn't help unless you are relatively low-fat already...it won't hide a gut, for those of us with tubbie tummies...

That said, I do use foam pads, and they do make a visible difference. "Bubbles" I think is the brand, the basic set comes with a stretchy shorts w/ two oblong pockets, and a matching pair of oblong pads which are about 1/4" (6mm) I think...not enough to even notice, but their extra pads are round, and 1/4"--3/4" thick (depending on what size you want).

I put the 3/4" against my hip, and a 1/2" on the butt, and use the oblong one to "blend" the extra bumps between the different sizes of pads. They don't move during the day, and I hand wash the shorts every other day for cleanliness.

The thing is, once you start wearing them, you have to be consistent or people will notice "Oh, not wearing your hips today?"  :embarrassed:

Without hips, I can wear a size 12 pants...with hips I wear a size 16.

Supposedly there are silicon hips out there custom-made to your dimensions, but at $300/set I defer to foam... ^-^

Dress-tech is another brand of silicone pads I might upgrade to.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...
