Skin Redness

I've been on T since last April and around November I started noticing the skin on my chest was really red, almost as if I had a sunburn. No itching of pain, just redness. My regular doctor thought it must be a rash so she prescribed hydrocortisone cream but that did nothing, so I went to a dermatologist. The dermatologist noticed that my face was red and flushed, too, and said he thinks I have rosacea (at first his assistant thought it might be sun sensitivity but I've been bundled up all winter so my chest certainly never sees the sun). And lately I've noticed that my arms are red as well. I'm just wondering if this could be from T? Has any one experienced flushing or rosacea suddenly cropping up? I'm really pale skinned so it's a bit embarrassing. I've been trying to put on sun screen just in case it's somehow getting through my clothes and the doctor gave me a gel for rosacea but said it could take months to work. I've noticed that my skin has changed a lot in the past few months, getting thicker and rougher, which I expected, but not so much the redness...

Rosacea can be caused by a bunch of things, including yeast or demodex, both of which would probably thrive better on skin if it has become oily from T. Is your skin a lot more oily since T?

I used to have a form of rosacea on the sides of the face along with the flaky/itchy skin... found out what caused it and got rid of it completely without prescription meds. That was before I started T and it has not come back so I can't say there was a T link for me. But my face has got more oily so I have to control that more carefully now.

I notice that I have periods of being flushed in the face or along the arms but it's almost always a reaction to something. Maybe T is changing what you're allergies are and there's something that's inflaming things now that didn't before?

Weirdly, I haven't noticed that my face is more oily on T. I do sweat a lot more, but my face tends to be pretty dry. I am on immune suppressants, though, so I wonder if that's making me more susceptible.

I hadn't thought of allergies. But the redness is so constant it's hard to think of what could be causing it. :-(

Just did a little googling and they prescribe a topical antiseptic to kill off microorganisms that cause infection. It's very possible if you are on an immune suppressant, that's the source of the problem. Secondary possibility would be pimples/ issues with your sweat glans. Could be either one, both or none of the above.

Thanks, Dena! They gave me a medication to take but it can take months to see results so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
