So I've been on T for a year now and I've been on hormone blockers for probably a year before that idk can't remember. They want to take me off the blockers which they will do when my Testosterone is in the male range of 10nmol-30nmol. The blood test came back at 3.4nmol and that's definitely not good and honestly I'm surprised my voice even dropped there is that little testosterone in me. I'm just confused as to why? And if having so little Testosterone in me is making my transition happen slower or??? The docs and nurses at my gp can't do anything because they rely on what the GIC tells them and right now I'm in between being transferred from the Tavi to Nottingham (been waiting a year and a half since referral) so honestly not too sure if the docs are gonna do anything because ??? Everything is just confusing and worrying?? Has this been a problem for anyone else??

To be honest with you, I suspect a fouled up lab result. The number you stated is the natural feminine range and that would be very difficult for you to reach unless they are injecting you with water.

TOTAL TESTOSTERONE LEVELS
SEX      ng/dl        ng/ml
Females  6 - 86     0.1 - 1.2
Males  270 - 1100   2.4 - 12
Conversion factor: 1 ng/ml = 3.47 nmol/l

Idk if you've read my new thread on here, but I'm in a similar boat. My hormones are in the female range by the time I get my shots done every two weeks (I can't go more frequently because the clinic is 45 mins from my house and I only have 1 day off a week--so my weeks when I get my shot, don't even feel like a day off to me). I actually noticed this weekend signs that the hormones might be almost completely out of my body by the end of the first week, and that's highly alarming to me.

I'm pretty much trapped in my situation unless someone can suggest me a doctor that happens to be close to me and take my insurance so...I don't think things will be changing. My last Dr. refuses to increase the dose (which is apparently pretty low for a permanent dose), and my new doctor can't get me in until JUNE (same clinic, all their doctors are godawful).

At least you look more masculine to begin with? I've seen your pics, and you looked great even before T, with just the hormone blockers. I've been a year and a half on T, and still look like a 15 year old girl. :/

Also, my doctor's office never actually tested my hormones after they put me on T, they've just been doing everything with random guesses. I had to find out from Dr. Fischer's office when I was getting my 1 year post-op from top surgery. I'm no pro, but I understand that is highly against common practice.

Thanks Dena

Wow Matt that sucks! I'm sorry that you've been screwed over like that by your doctor.

Something else about hormones. They have a half life just like radioactive atoms. The half life for T is 6-8 days so after two weeks your levels would be about a quarter the peak. If you are tested 2-3 days after an injection you will get a peak reading. Just before the next injection, you get the trough or low reading. The remainder of the time you will be somewhere in between.
