Is this smart? I live in Texas and  due to the ridiculous actions happening in my state thanks to this new administration I've been put in a state of panick and felt the need to rush my legal transition. I have my court date next week and now I'm worried maybe I'm rushing things too much. I still haven't had my voice surgery which I need to pass. My voice now would clock me even I did start presenting female. On top of that I still present "male" at work. Should I reschedule my court date another day or keep going? On the regular bases I don't show my ID and the only time it would be a disadvantage is if I leave my job for whatever reason and try to get a new job. Which I would most likely present male as.

How do you manage to present male at work? The images you posted in the past appeared that you were long past male fail.

Second, even with voice surgery, you still need speech therapy or at least voice training. If you haven't done that, you should attempt that first as you may take to it quickly. If you have had voice training, what is your current status?

It may be possible for you to go full time quickly should you desire it. If not for some reason, you may be live more in the feminine role than the masculine one.

Makeup and push up bras do wonders lol. My hair is like armpit length and with HRT im only an A cup. I put my hair in a ponytail and wear a chest binder when I go out.

As far as voice goes I haven't any therapy as of yet. I spoke with a voice therapist and I'm starting soon.

I have heard many good voices with therapy alone and some without any therapy.

If I read your response correctly, you are not presenting in public yet. You should start doing that as soon as possible even if you have a friend with you to cover when you don't want to use your voice. The more comfortable you are in public part time the faster you will move to full time.

okay I well I do that. I'm just worried if im making the right steps. My gender therapist said I'm doing everything the right way. Idk if I'm overthinking things. Do you see my concerns as something valid or just vain? I have a tendency to over think things and need an opinion from others more clear headed. Thanks for listening.

Look at my signature and you will note the date of my surgery. I went full time 2.5 years before that. Because I had an extremely low voice, the best I could produce with speech therapy was a mid range male voice. What brought me to this site was voice surgery which I had a year and a half ago. In all those years, nobody called me out on my voice and a good portion of that I was working product support on the phone.

Do things at your own pace. Some people take a year to go full time and we had one member that took about a month from start to finish. This included me helping with voice lessons however she was a quick study as she sang and understood the basics.

Changing your paper work may push you along faster so it's best to address as much as you can as soon as possible. Coming out at work may become an issue sooner than you think because once you change your social security card, you will need to match the change at work. If you don't, the company will receive a notice that there is a mismatch that needs to be corrected. If you work for a large company, that can be contained in personal. In a small company the word might get around.

I have started working on my name change already, even though I am not yet full-time.  The wheels of bureaucracy are slow enough that I will probably be full-time before it comes through, but if the paperwork comes through first, who cares?  I don't have to tell anyone my new name (whether legal or not) until I am ready.  (Changing the gender marker on my birth certificate is complicated for me, so I am not even looking at that yet.  I'll be happy to get the gender changed on my driver's license.)

For you in Texas, I have heard enough news from there that I fully understand your rush to make the changes while you can.  Do what you have to do.
