Hey guys what's up

I'm super excited to start my transition and I want to do it the right way, at least try to, but it's really frustrating finding a place to go to, or a doctor that will help me just get started.

I live very close to NYC, in NJ.  One 20min train ride to Timesquare actually.

There's a few organizations for Transgendered people in NY Like Callen-Lord which sounds awesome, but they said they don't take my insurance, which is AmerihealthNJ.

I wish I can just find a doctor nearby that I can Uber to and just get this thing started.

Is there a way I can find a doctor like that?

I'm afraid if I go to just any doctor they might turn me away or idk <shrug>

Is there a way I can get hormones with my insurance or on the cheap and then go to any doctor and just tell them I'm on HRT?

What do I do?! Arghhhhhh (yes I'm a pirate!)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Depending on your location it might make more sense to start looking up endocrinologists instead of trans-friendly clinics. Just Google around your location and start doing some digging. Some.might require a therapist letter before starting you off. Here is a link of some specific clinics around the country, it looks like there is one in Buffalo, too (not sure what the distance for you would be).  http://www.trans-health.com/clinics/

A lot of clinics do sliding prices for people without insurance, so that could be an option. For instance, the HBHC in Chicago has an awesome plan to save money on prescriptions that I go through because my insurance won't cover any of the cost of prescriptions until I meet a $5000 deductible that I just won't reach before September when my company's health insurance plans reset.

As far as insurance coverage, a lot have exemptions for gender dysphoria. Because of this, the HBHC also lists the specific diagnoses as a general endocrine disorder and not specifically gender dysphoria. So, if it should ever come up I can simply say I've got a hormonal I'm balance (which I consider true).
Up and away and off I go to lose my mind and find my soul.
