I've been lurking for a while trying to get my nerve up to post. I've always struggled with my gender identity but it wasn't until recently that I admitted to myself that I'm a trans woman. It was like I could breathe for the first time.

I guess I should tell you a little about myself. As of now I'm going by Gloria. The only real significance the name has to me is it's my favorite Patti Smith song and her music has helped me realize it's okay to be on the fringe. Outside of society.

I just turned 35. I'm a late bloomer. But better late than never, huh? I'm a hairstylist and makeup artist. I love to listen to music and go to live shows. Reading. Netflix. Hiking. Dinner with friends. Shopping.

I hope to get to know you all and make this my regular home.

Thanks for having me!
Gloria

Looks pretty normal to me. Why do you feel you are on the fringe?

Welcome! I just joined the website not too long ago and there are many sensitive and kind people. I am having difficulties with dealing with the recent revelation that I am a woman in a man's body and am always happy to have someone to talk with.

Thanks so much! Those links will come in handy in sure.

As far as feeling on the fringe or outside of society, I think I always did because of my sexuality (or what I thought was just sexuality) but also my gender.

Hi Gloria,

I'm Jeanette an unofficial greeter for Susan's Place and I've been remiss in conveying your unofficial greeting. I see you have been officially greeted several times by others already.
Welcome Gloria. come on in, oh you are in already. Have a seat.. you are sitting. Can I get you something to drink? oh I didn't see the glass. Well heck what do you need me for?  >:(   Well I can tell you I am glad you are here. I hope you make this  your online home.  We all want you here and want to get to know your better.
I'll just leave it at that for now since I was soooo late in saying hi.

  Hugs,

Howdy-ho Gloria!

You made a good choice in coming here. I've been to a couple sites (I'm not naming names) that were as intolerant as your average Aryan type site.

The people here are really great. I haven't been here all that long, and have already made a big boo boo. I was warned and wasn't given the most serious disciplinary action, but regardless of how you are offline, you have to be mature, respectful, and clean here. Thank the Gods!. Too many sites really don't care, and believe me it gets old after a while. I mean when you have to pick out every 7th word just to form a statement that isn't vulgar, you get bored.

Anyway, I'm rambling again...

Welcome, have fun, and contribute. I look forward to hearing from everyone. New or long time members.

Peace out!

cool name! that is such a fantastic song. I love Patti Smith, her music has always helped me a lot too; I saw her live before and actually kind of stole her first name lol so you and me have a little bit in common.

anyway, yeah, welcome! this is a really great place to talk and ask questions. almost everyone you meet is pretty friendly and you can hear a very wide range of experiences. I think it can be a huge help.

Welcome! I'm also a newbie/late bloomer(56 as of yesterday!) who struggled a long time with my sexual identity. I've been lurking on this site a little while, and the comments and contributions are fantastic! Enjoy!

Hi Gloria.
,
A big hello to you!
I'm 49 and only transitioned 2 years ago.
Doesn't matter when you bloom as long as you open up to the light within and without you. Its always there.
Its just recognizing it for what it is.

Hugs
