As many of you know I am a mobile phone internet surfer as well as a home user, my internet phone server has decided to block susans place because it contains adult material. I am fuming about this and want to know if there is any way I can get around there fire walls or what the hell you want to call it. Would typing the IP address in work or not. If so what is it. PLease Please what can I do???  >:( :icon_userfriendly: :icon_userfriendly:

Best thing to do is call and complain. Also ask them to re-review the site we moderate heavily. You might tell them that if they don't reconsider we will make the name of the company public and let the community put pressure on them.

Susan, I have done this, but as usuall I get sent through to a call center on the out skirkts of outer mongolia who find it quite difficult to understand what you are trying to say. One the message is through and your both singing from the same sheet you get told that they do not moderate the blocked list and that there is nothing they can do. Come on "3 Mobile" book your ideas up. I will have another think about this one and see what I can do.

This is rather strange.
Why would they single out Susans?
That doesn't make sense
This isn't tagged as an adult site, google would confirm that.
They would have to go out of their way to find and block this site, OR their adult "block" filter contains some very vague word criteria.

Susan's does have a "sexuality" section, and those posts do contain  search-able content such as "orgasm" "vagina" "clitoris" "stimulation" "breasts" and other such words that in bulk, might trigger a block filter.

What seems odd, is that as a user, you should have a way to override the filter if you choose.

You might look into that. Your network should not be filtering the internet. That is the job of the software on your phone, and should be user-adjustable.

If it's not, I would switch services as that is ridiculous. A paying adult should be able to do what they want with their phone.

Susan's is blocked from our computers at work because it contains the term "transsexual" therefore is automatically assumed to carry inappropriate content.

What kind of business do you work at?

O, there are other businesses that do so too. I have talked with a number of friends who cannot get to Susan's and other sites for the exact same 'transsexual' reason. The server security simply blocks everything that has the word in it's title. That way it covers the whole matter and they don't have to decide what to block on a case-by-case basis: "too much time" is I am sure what they would say.

This way they get Susan's and other legitimate sites as well as porno and less than legitimate sites.

Can you get other similar sites, like Calpernia, Helen Boyd's, etc.? If so, they're focusing on Susan's for some obscure reason, and ask. Or get a proxy server to bypass the filter. When I worked at one organization several folks used them to bypass filters management considered excessive surfing. They had to access these Websites for their job but couldn't get around the rules, so they simply bypassed them.

I tried using vtunnel to bypass the filters but they have that blocked too. Thanks anyway Sarah.  :)

I would say use TOR but I blocked it due to people using it for abuse...
