For a while, I've been leaning towards Chettawut for SRS.

Does anyone have any input on this surgeon? Safety is really important to me and while I've heard a lot of good from this doctor, I've also heard some bad - mainly with facial procedures. I don't want to have any medical concerns post-surgery or need to get a bunch of revisions and whatnot.

This leads me to another question.. Do you think I should get my trachea shave during my SRS with him or hold off and get it done with FFS when I go to another surgeon? I love my voice and would be devastated to impact it anyway at all. I want the surgeon that does my trachea shave to provide as little risk as possible.

And are there any other surgeons I should consider? Dr. Suporn is pretty much booked through 2019, plus its more expensive so I'm not interested. Dr. Preecha is hardly ever heard of anymore since he retired, but if his team that does the procedures is good then I'd still consider going there as well.
I'm much more interested in the Thai method of SRS than others, plus its a lot more affordable so I'd really like to stick with going there.

I've been having a hard time finding feedback for this so I'd appreciate any input!

Welcome to Susan's Place. While I don't have much knowledge about Chettawut, I can give you a little information on trachea shaves. The surgery is relatively simple however you need to be willing to live with a little bulge if you don't want your voice damaged. My surgeon told me that would be the case before surgery and while I have a bulge, nobody has commented on it. It is possible to remove more but that requires CTA voice surgery to reenforce the larynx to correct for the damage. Dr. Haben spells this out on his web site if you want to learn more about the procedure. There are now two approaches to the surgery. My surgery involved a cut across the larynx that left a small scar. It's no longer very visible but at first I used a little makeup to cover it. The other procedure is an incision under the jaw and that approach is mostly done by FFS surgeons. Good luck with your procedures and if there is anything else I can help with, let me know.

I believe the the Thai method you're referring to is the non-penile inversion technique invented by Dr Suporn. At least parts have been adopted by other Thai surgeons including Dr Chettawut, but not by PAI (Dr Peecha's team).

Here's a good post on PAI

My wonderful surgeries SRS, BA and FFS at PAI Bangkok

I tend to collect only negative posts about surgeons as there's plenty of good ones that can easily be found.

Here's a post about Dr Chett's FFS

Why some bad you tube and facebook groups about Dr Chettawut ?

This one talks about PAI, Chett and Suporn

There's large collections of post-op SRS results out there if you search.

Regarding the trachea shave I'd probably ask the VFS surgeon about it (Yeson for me if I ever do it).

I had my SRS with Chattawut and while I was there there were several ladies getting FFS. They all seemed to have great results. Of course I don't know what is the final result like, but judging by the immediate results they all should look great. Regarding trachea shave, that is a very simple procedure and I don't see a reason why Chettawut can't do it

I don't have any opinion on whether you should do your tracheal shave with dr. Chettawut, but I'm willing to share my experience. I had it only a few days ago in combination with my SRS, as my FFS surgeon was not allowed to do it (Dutch hospital politics). It actually went pretty well. Dr. Chettawut said he would do a maximum reduction and he delivered. Neither my adamsapple nor the scar are really noticeable (you see a small red line, but I expect it to vanish). Compared to a tracheal shave my friend hand in Antwerp, my scar is smaller and did not swell at all. My voice wasn't impacted at all and I basically had no pain. Only some minor discomfort, which is to expect with surgery like this. Would I recommend it? Yes, but it's up to you to decide whether it's worth it for you.
