Hi Saira,

I am sorry to hear this... I don't know if I mentioned it or not, but I've experienced a psychiatric ward. My struggles have been extremely hard to endure, and have manifested in (diagnosed) bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder. Gender dysphoria and its stigma can wreak havoc on a person. :(

Good luck with your transition, and I am willing to offer as much advice as is needed! Lord knows I have a lot worth sharing!!!

Hi KC,
Even I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I have severe fluctuations in mood. One moment I am happy, and the next, I feel extreme sadness. I am on meds, but they don't work.
I am going to be admitted in the psych ward tomorrow. There, the doc will give me Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation(TMN).
My parents are convinced that I am trans and they have said they will always accept me, whatever the case.
The doc wants me to somewhat stabilise mentally before I can start doing something about my gender issues.
I hope, I'll get my hormones soon.

Love ,
          Saira :-*

I'm Jeanette and can only wish I realized I was trans when I was young. But pack then the word don't even exist I think.

Being 66 myself, I could only find much of this from lots of reading from various sources at the time.

Actually Transgender (first coined in 1965) and Transsexual (introduced in 1949) both started to become popular in the mid 60s.  By the 80s-90s, TS was seen as a subset of TG (umbrella term).  I think people use Trans as just a short version, as it is a prefix for various words.

I knew and identified as a Transsexual myself in the mid 70s.  Can't say I heard much of transgender, but was being used by people like Virginia Prince since the late 60s.
