Chapter 1
My name isn't "thylacina", but recent life events have left me hesitant to disclose my real name online. Reading this forum ahead of registering, i noted that most participants appear to go by usernames which are names or sound like names, and i prefer blending into whatever plain sight is. Under a different plain sight, i might have chosen a username like "pink ranger"

"thylacina" could be someone's name, it has a feel of slighty-exotic beauty, almost musical. i could imagine meeting in real life someone named "Thylacina Jones", or more generally "Thylacina Surname".
But it's not my name. When in the late 90's i was brainstorming for a new name to reinvent myself under, and when shortly after the turn of century i legally changed my name, i'd never even heard of thylacines.
So in real life i adopted a name which was more conventional, more sensible, for the long-term goal of living my reinvented life blending into plain sight as much as my reality allows.
But "thylacina" might be thought of as a possible metaphor, (meta for?) my life. i and thylacines have at least one similar aspect, when seen under the right light.
