The support group I attend has a problem.  It appears that one of our regular members propositioned (on the phone) a new member.  That new member is now feeling very unsafe, as this was a trigger issue for them.  The person who did the propositioning has mental health issues and is mildly disruptive in meetings.

Since the two people can't be in the same room together, I am thinking that asking the regular member to leave is the only solution.

This is a fairly young (1 year) group, entirely amateur, with no associated professionals.  We don't have bylaws or procedures established.  How do other groups handle asking a member to leave?  Or how else might we address this serious issue?

I've been trying to get a support group here in mid MO, and have had a few problems with people. For example one guy kept asking when we were going to have our first "all ->-bleeped-<-" orgy, every time he emailed me. He went into detail what he wanted to do, and was so graphic that, even if I could, I wouldn't be willing to describe. To each their own, but his expectations made me sick. I have no problem with lesbians and gay men, as I myself am bi. But the ones that seem to be hell bent on getting every STD they can, I don't have the patience for. I told him several times that, that wasn't what this group is all about. After many times of telling him to look elsewhere, he finally got the point and stopped emailing me.

So what I'm saying is if needs be, tell the person that the group isn't the place for such things, unless there is a mutual attraction.

The 5th of the 11 Satanic Rules Of The Earth says "Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal."

Maybe that could come into play here.

A rule on my forum may be transferable to your group:

14- Unwarranted sexual advances are not allowed. If you and another member want to meet face to face privately, and it leads to anything, then you proceed at your own risk. Just remember that this is not a hook up forum. I won't try to deny you the right to make your own choices, but I ask that you not try to look strictly for sex here.
"There are many who would take my time. I shun them.
There are some who share my time. I am entertained by them.
There are precious few who contribute to my time. I cherish them."
