I am so excited I cannot even contain it I just had to come post about it. I had an appointment with my Primary today and we discussed HRT for the first time. I came out to him as Transgender, and he didn't even bat an eye! Instead he immediately started telling me how my identity is valid and the things I am feeling are real and natural. Do you even know how good it feels to have a medical professional look you in the eye and tell you what you are feeling is valid? I swear I felt like I was on a cloud. After we talked he gave me referrals to both a therapist and an endocrinologist! I have my first Therapy session on the 17th and my first Endo appointment on the 19th two days after that. Now I know how lucky I am and I know that most people don't get an endo referral without therapy first so I was shocked when he gave me both. He was very sensitive and told me that he has helped multiple trans patients with their transitions. I can't even find words to say how happy I am. At work where I am still in boy mode I had my referral paper folded up in my pocket and whenever I would get dysphoria I would touch it or unfold it and read it again. I feel like I'm finally making the first step and I couldn't be happier!

Congratulations to you too! I live in California and it's very liberal, and I have Kaiser insurance and Kaiser is extremely trans friendly so I guess I won the lottery there. Good luck to you! Fingers crossed we can both get our hormones as soon as possible :)

Congratulations to both of you. It was only a few months ago I came out to my primary care doctor and answered his questions. He did the same thing as yours did. He reassured me my feelings were valid, asked me if I intended getting my HRT through the VA, and ask if I wanted to talk to a therapist. He refereed me to mental health and I meet with my therapist Tuesday for the forth time. He ordered my HRT meds and I have been on them 5 months now. I'll see him later this month for a regular check up and labs then hopefully an increase in Estradiol .

You should be excited you are about to step aboard the HRT express. Enjoy the ride.

Hugs,
   Laurie
