(NOTE: I had a version of this I wrote a while back I liked more but I lost it so I'm rewriting it fairly quickly so it may be a bit rough)
Beauty to Beast
She dismays over what she lacks and covets what she's told
She looks up at billboards and the wonders to behold
A photoshoped Venus, constructed Aphrodite
They scream at people with a voice so very mighty
"You are nothing if you're not us, you're just a sack of meat"
"Clinging to your individuality is the surest way to defeat"
She stares with searching eyes, wanting idols to ensure
That they stare with admiration devoid of rancor
She feels the looks of pity, their gazes burn her soul
Drilling through her spirit and widening the hole
The gap in her desires, the question to be solved
Turning from herself and seeking them to resolve
The reasons for her anguish, the reasons for her pain
Unaware that those with answers fixed the game
She takes a bloody dagger used many times before
To carve out a new self from the heart so sore
She slashes and gouges, maims and cuts
Seeking to lose her life and her self be rend
And with money and some luck
She'll be just like one of them
