I work with 99.9999 percent men. Yep what a treat. As my day progressed today I started to wonder if anybody around here transitioned in the construction industry. The curious thought crept into my mind seeing that construction workers are so forward thinking and totally accepting ( yep that was a lil bit of sarcasm) and I was interested on how one dealt with transitioning in such a stereotypicaly non accepting group towards anybody in the LGBTQ
Hey girl!! You're not alone. This girl here was in her first quarter of welding school when she realized she was transgender. I get to spend the next 30+ yrs working in a male dominated field.
However, I'm going to let my work do the talking for me. Then, when I've had enough with welding I'm going to be a weld inspector, then when I've had enough of being and inspector I'm going back to school to become a weld engineer!!!
The industry is just going to have to deal with me the first few years until I complete my transition. Which I think will be about the time I decide to become a CWI.
I'm now in my 3 quarter of my program. I'm more or less out to all my classmates. I'm still the same person I was before I just have a larger chest now [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16] and everyone still treats me the same.
