My name is Anna Nguyen. I live and work in Austin, TX. Never mind my age! It suffices to say that I'm probably old enough to be your mother
. I do look much much younger for my age, which is huge blessing, having started transitioning only four years ago. I have changed my name and gender marker and have lived full time for almost three years now.
I am a software engineer, a fashion designer and sewist, all of which are the bases for
my software company, Dress Shop App. I am very lucky to be able to make a living using all the things that I good at and that I love doing.
I am the current president of the
Austin chapter of PFLAG, a national support and advocacy organization for LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones. I also the Media Relations Director for the
Capitol Region of the
Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT). I am also among the leadership of the
TGQ Social, an Austin monthly gathering of trans and gender diverse people.
I advocate actively for all transgender causes, but especially for transgender people of color and intersex people, who continue to be relegated to the margins despite the recent increase in visibility and acceptance of the trans community.
Finally, in my copious spare time
, I enjoy cooking, photography, keeping up
my sewing and fashion blog and all things mechanical and/or motorized. And long walks on the beach. Not!
