Any advice on changing my voice. I found a forum on here a few weeks ago(before I joined) how certain exercises to start, but I wanted to hear some of other peoples experiences to see if it might help.

Try talking without use your vocal chords, somewhat like a whisper but louder. Many girls say that persistent training can get them to a female sounding voice. Andrea James has videos for this training. Her website is "Transsexual Road Map"

For myself, I always had a soft voice, even before I transitioned. Many people did not take me seriously because of that. At this time, I may or may not have voice surgery.

Dr Mirdirossian in Jupiter Florida does voice surgery. He did my FFS and we talked about voice surgery. His results with other women are impressive.

I have moved you post to the voice section of the forum where you will find a wealth of information on producing a feminine voice. I have had a good deal of experience with trained voices and am willing to work with others who would like to attempt this approach. For now, just post your questions in this thread. A surgical voice still requires a knowledge of a trained voice so I recommend attempting a trained voice first as surgery isn't always required. Unfortunately, I was one of the people who required surgery to produce a feminine voice but without knowing how to use a trained voice, my voice would still sound masculine.

To produce a trained voice, you need to tighten up the muscles between your larynx and your jaw. If you start out saying EEEEEEEEEE with your normal voice and tighten the muscles, your voice will rise and at some point break. A feminine voice is produced by keeping your pitch above the break point. Then it becomes a matter of inflection (the constantly changing pitch) of a feminine voice.

Don't force your voice and if you feel any discomfort, stop what you are doing and ask for help. Pain is a sign that continued usage will cause damage to your voice. Over the short term, you voice will recover but long term damage could require surgery to correct.

If you feel you need it, I will do Skype sessions as it can be a little difficult getting it right at first.

I found one post on here before I joined about starting with the swallowing method and holding method to train your throat. It has made my voice scratchy at time, but seems like it is doing something. I, (also fortunately do not have a big Adams apple) so I think that helps. I was just looking into other training methods of how everyone else has learned to train the voice and see if it helps in my endeavors of changing mine.

Swallowing uses the same set of muscles so you can feel the larynx move then duplicate the action without swallowing. It's pretty simple once you figure out how to do it but for some people it's a bit difficult to get started. I have been training several people on the site and it seems like once I get the basic technique down, they disappear off on their own getting the rest of it.
