HRT in the UK?

Hi there, I'm Dylan, I'm 16, ftm, and I live in the UK. I've been talking to a councillor at CAHMs for a good few months now, and she's referred me to a gender clinic called KOI in Belfast. (I live in Northern Ireland) She told me originally that she'd probably have an appointment with them in summer time, however they've changed it to November and said they probably won't even see me till February.. This is like almost a year, just to get an assessment. And I hear that most gender clinics do two assessments that are 6 months apart?

I know that I have to be patient and wait, just like everyone else, but I was wondering about other people's experiences in the UK? How long did it take for you to get an appointment and eventually HRT? And if you've gone private would you recommend it? Going private might be an option for me as my parents have gone private a good few times before but it would be pretty stressful for them I think.

Yeah most if not all gender clinics need you to have two assessments for HRT or surgery. If you're lucky it could be a 6 month wait or more likely longer. I went private to obtain HRT quickly (Transhealth in London) and then went the NHS route for blood tests and to obtain my prescription.  Although Transhealth  id going to stop taking in new patients soon as they're closing down. They're good for trans men but not so much for  trans women; as I heard from a trans woman that Curtis  doesn't prescribe T blockers. The therapist was very nice too.
