Hi Everyone,

So I had private SRS with Phil Thomas recently at Brighton Nuffeild Hospital.  I wanted to raise a discussion point and get some advice (and maybe help any other girls who are due to have surgery with him).

I'm 25 year old healthy MTF. 5'7 and 9 stone.

I'm only 17 days post op, and I was very lucky because I had next to no bleeding and very minimal bruising.  However, I'm not fully happy with the cosmetic side of things. I have heard many positives about Phil Thomas and Nuffeild but it was difficult finding results pictures online, and hardly anybody wants to share there own results to others.  I was uncircumcised and in my consultation I was told I was a great candidate for the results as I had enough skin didn't need additional hair removal.

My issue so far with the appearance of my vagina is that There isn't much of an actual labia around my vaginal  canal. This is really getting me down because the two labias look totally different when the vagina is spread open and when I dilate. The left side is bulging out and away from the skin and looks uneven.   For a young, passable, straight MTF who intends to having a 'normal' sex life with male partners in the future, this is really distressing me.

I know I'm only 17 days post op, but I cant see the left labia shape growing longer or deflating. I really want to raise my concerns with Phil in my follow up consultation in 5 weeks time but I don't want to see ungrateful. I am a private patient and I've spent 12,500 on a vagina that is just "ok". I want to request a cosmetic touch up. Is that reasonable?   Has anybody had a similar experience with the inner labia's being uneven and not fully around the vaginal opening?

I was told by the nurses I had a "really nice result" but I'm thinking "compared to who?". I've researched CIS vaginas and yes they are all different, but I've had a plastic surgery basically, why isn't it near perfect. Or why has my surgeon examined me and explained certain aspects of the results, or maybe he will when I go for my follow up (its meant to be only 10 minutes though)

Thank you
x

17 days is far from enough to judge a result - it can take up to 6 months for full healing.

I understand, but that will only cover bruising, swelling. My issue is the labia is not long enough and is shaped differently, 6 months can't exactly change that??

I know exactly what you are talking about, this is a normal post op aesthetic complaint. When you have srs you need to dilate to increase the depth and width. If the surgeon extends the labia minora to the vagina hole, dilation will tear the lose skin of the labia minora attached to the vagina entry. So for the fist year, while you are dilating, the correction surgery cannot be done as you will need to cease dilation for 2 weeks. Its a standard correction that you need to ask the surgeon. I am assuming you have a labia minora from your srs.

Relax, do it in a year if you still want, you may find you just dont want to have another surgery.
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

Way too early to say. I think the photo I trust most for my long term appearance is the one taken immediately on removal of the packing and external bandage, precisely because there was no swelling at that point. I'm at 5 weeks post op now and swelling has reduced a fair bit but there's time to go and I believe my cosmetic result is going to be awesome (already if I stand before a mirror, my vagina looks pretty normal).

Where you are now was about when my swelling was worst and that lasted 3 weeks, my left side inner labia was very much swollen like a balloon and fairly scary. It's improved a lot in the last 10 days

Thank you for the responses so far, especially Warlockmaker.

Hopefully my surgeon can do a touch up then after a year if its a common complaint? I wonder if I would need to pay for this as I've paid so much already?

Not everybody visits the site every day. Some visit one a week and other visit once a month depending on their need. We have a policy to shut down meaningless posts so for the most part, the posts you receive should be quality posts. In addition, you will get a fair percentage of views that are staff checking for rule violations. We look but don't touch almost every post on the site unless we feel we can contribute something to the conversation. Sunday was a slow day on the site and Tuesday or Wednesday may be slow as well. Be patience and it's likely you will get the answer you are waiting for.

And there's plenty of folks like me.  Very curious about the surgery and complications or issues that arise but its still in our future (or not) and can therefore offer you no sound advice.

We wish you well, but unfortunately are unable to help.

I am almost 8 months post op. I had to have labiaplasty which consistent of a clitoral hood. My vaginal canal does not have labia minora. I have a labia majora and there is available skin for the ninora.

My right side was much bigger than my left side. That diminished in time but not enough to be 100% symmetrical. After my labialasty the left and right sides are 95% equal and I think in time there will be equal.

I do not think I will have a labia minora procedure done around the vaginal canal. I have 3 more procedures and I am getting tired of operations.  Who knows, maybe some day I will have some lip tattooing and external hair removal above my vagina and think about some canal minora.
