Hi Venus,
I did not have Type III forehead contouring (I had Type I), but I did have a scalp advance, and all was well until about six months after surgery when I lost a big chunk of hair right on my forehead, front and center, and some on my crown, and patches bilaterally in the middle of my scalp. I am not talking pea-sized, either. The part in front was about the size of a quarter. I called my surgeon, Dr. Zukowski, who blamed it on me stopping Finasteride, but I didn't buy it. My T levels are very low to begin with, and Finastreide has some genomically-mediated affects on hair follicles that just don't reverse themselves in a couple of weeks.
I went to a dermatologist, and finally another plastic surgeon, and it was decided I was experiencing telogen effluvium. This can happen from major trauma to the body, or even long periods of general anesthesia (I was under GA for over 8 hours during my FFS). Telogen effluvium means the follicle kind of goes into shock, and reverts to the telogen (resting) phase, and the existing hair shaft is released from the dermal papilla. There is nothing that can be done except wait for the hair follicles to return to the anagen (growth) phase. This can take months. Fortunately, I can already see some little hairs sprouting up and remaining hairs getting longer in the last couple of months.
I'm not sure if that is what is happening to you, but I hope this helps.
With kindness,
Terri
