Ejo

I have 3 appointments for consultations with different plastic surgeons this week. I am pretty flat chested and am concerned that I won't be able to get size c, which is the minimum size that I would be happy with. Has anyone been able to get such size having been flat chested? I'm 49,  5'8", 190 lbs.
Thanks in advance for any input on this subject :)

Ejo,

"Flat chested" is a fairly subjective description, and cup size is not a very good way to communicate your objective.  Bring photos of examples of what you hope to achieve.  There are several methods and products for BA, and it's best if your surgeon selects the most appropriate approach for your anatomy.

I also suggest that you check Realself.com for the opinions of board certified surgeons in answer to questions like yours.

Saline are the least expensive, then round silicone gel, then shaped silicone (gummy bears).  Gummy bears cost in the range of $5K - $6K in Chicago; $3K - $4K is typical for saline.

Thank you Clara for your input. I've done my research on cost and the different types of implants. I was more concerned with whether I'll be able to get the size I want. My cost will be 5-6K in California for the top of the line gels depending on the doctor I choose.

I paid for GCS and the BA at the same time, about $30,000 for everything. My cost after insurance for the GCS and BA was $5,000. I was supposed to have the GCS and BA at the same time but I had a complication and had to reschedule the BA. The ICU cost was $86,450 of which I paid $19.00 after insurance.

The breakdown from memory for the GCS and BA was:
Anesthesia was $1,800
Hospital $5,600
McGinn $19,600
Implants $3,000 550 cc cohesive silicone high Mentor

Hey there, Ejo.  I did not read all of the posts so I ask you to bear with me if my reply is repetitious.

Do your research not only on the procedure but also on the surgeons.  Mine is out of Birmingham (AL) and he is versed in transgender BA.  The key is to how much elasticity you have that might require a two-step approach.  Just hang in there and I cannot stress enough to do your research thoroughly.

Peace,
M

BTW, he is Dr. Heddon http://www.transgenderbreastaugmentation.com/

Deciding on size can be tricky.  I went in asking for a C-cup with a 38" under bust.  My surgeon told me that simply specifying the cup size was not that useful.  He took measurements of my torso, the position of my areolas, the width of my breast tissue, and called attention to the asymmetry of my breasts and that one is a bit smaller than the other which I was unaware of.  He had a gallery of B&A photos of former patients from which I selected one that was nearest what I hoped to achieve with breast augmentation.  We talked implant types and we agreed that Mentor MemoryShape (highly cohesive silicone) implants placed partially under the pec muscle (dual plane) would be best for me.  Then, he created a 3-D image of my torso with the Vectra system specifying the implants we had decided on.  He adjusted the size to where the image looked proportional to my skeletal frame.  The implant size that looked best to me was a 440 cc medium height, medium projection which resulted in my ultimately needing a 38D bra, a whole cup size larger than I thought I wanted at the outset.  I'm very happy with the final outcome.

Advice:  Forget cup size and have a thorough consultation with a good BA surgeon who is flexible in his choice of product and procedure so that you get the best possible result.

BTW, my surgeon was Dr. Daniel Krochmal outside of Chicago, IL.  He typically works with natal females, but is trans friendly.  I see no reason to go to a surgeon who does transgender women exclusively.  Many are biased toward a particular type of implant and/or surgical method even if it's not optimal for you.

Yes, I will be bringing photos of what I want them to look like and what I don't as far as projection shape and size but ultimately I will listen to the doctors as far as their recommendations. I will be seeing 3 excellent doctors this week and compare what each has to say, but I'm leaning to one in particular who is chief of plastic surgery at Eisenhower Medical Center and has won plastic surgeon of the year (nationwide) for many years in a row and has a lot of experience. I set the other two appointments so that I can compare answers and see who seems most sincere and trustworthy. Wish me luck. I am exited! Thanks to all for your input  ;)

Well I had been on HRT for 3 yrs but only had gotten to a small A/B cup myself. I was 34A/B basically.

I had 500 HP Silicone implants and have been at a comfortable 34 DD for the last few years now.

Hope that gives some context.
