Question? a FFS surgeon first or more local maxillofacial surgeon

So I'm still a ways from being ready for facial work but never too early to consider it. I am pondering if going to a FFS specialist should be the route to go or not. Mainly my chin is forward, possibly a bit long, nose job for certain. I could live with my minor brow bossing and my wife is strongly telling me I don't need that.  ::) But for my chin part of my forward projection is from a significant underbite. About 2-3 mm worth. Back when I was in high school and had braces, they told me the procedure at the time was to break the jawbone, reset it, and wire the mouth closed. Today they generally cut the bone out on both sides, move the jaw back and screw it together. Its possible that I could find a maxillofacial surgeon more locally who would also burr down the front aspect of my chin while doing the setback procedure. That I would have to check on still. The question I have is for opinions, educated if there are any  ;), as to whether fixing my underbite would make the most significant improvement on my chin as opposed to simply trying to cut away at the front of it.

Yes I'm still fighting the facial hair.  >:( Beleive it or not using many IPL treatments significantly thinned it. Whats left seems too hardy for the IPL to do any good now. I need to make a laser appointment.

First things first, young lady!  :police:

Yes you need a laser appointment very much. Most of us do not mess around with IPL, it is just too temporary to be worth while.

With only 3 months of HRT, FFS should be way down on your to do list. Give your HRT about a year or two and let the hormones do their magic. You will be amazed.

Definitely get a few opinions because I think this is a sort of complex case. Normally during FFS I do not believe they're trying to correct under or overbites so I think you're correct to assume you may need to do a few procedures here. Also to me I feel like your chin could use additional projection (not a reduction) and I suspect once you do a few consultations with FFS surgeons you would hear a few of them suggest either an implant or a sliding genioplasty to move your chin forward and not backwards.

Thank you for that. Your comments actually make me feel better about my chin. I think getting my bite set right should be first no matter what. Just one more thing I need to save up for.
