Hello everyone. I'm new here. Crossdressing is something I've been thinking about for years, I've even bought female clothes years ago hoping to wear them some day, but have always been too nervous, because I really wanted to pass and look pretty. I just recently started pushing myself hard towards my goal, and over the last few months have been practicing makeup, buying full outfits, and going out publicly. It is difficult, and I am still having quite a hard time passing so far. (I often get looks, and sometimes worse. There was one time I was walking along the river, which was bustling with people and a person on a bench looked me up and down with and expression on his face as though I was some sort of monster. He then proceeded to yell "I think that's a man!" in the middle of a crowded park, as though he was discovering I was some sort of pod person and he needed to alert the innocent civilians. Sorry for the aside I've been wanting to vent that though. I'm sure other have had similar experiences. Trying to press on despite that setback.) I had set a goal of going to a major event coming up in about two weeks crossdressing, and I really hope to be brave enough to do that, but I would really love any last minute tips people would have for passing.

My biggest problem currently I feel is my facial hair. It is thick, dark, and grows fast. To make things worse my skin has a lot of problems with a close shave, so I generally have to avoid it or I will break out badly. I've been having such a hard time with it I was going to wax before the event, but it turns out I need to have a decent length of it to do that, and I don't know if my skin would react poorly to it. So it seems like that is out of the question for now. I currently have tried various combinations of red, pink, and yellow color correctors, liquid mousse, matte mouse, stick foundation, and finishing powder but haven't been able to get full coverage. I have read good things about dermablend, do people think this makes a big difference? I would be more than willing to pay up for it if it does, I am just nervous because of the number of things I have looked up and tried that don't seem to work well enough. I am currently in Paris, and should be able to find most European brands of makeup, and probably a good deal of American stuff as well. Anyone have any good recommendations? Any other beginner mistakes I may be making that is making me stand out?

Sorry for the long first post and thanks for any help.

Hi Ania

Welcome to Susan's. I hope you enjoy your time here.

Have you considered a more permanent solution for your beard like Laser or Electrolysis. If this is not what you are really after at the moment I would be careful waxing as that can damage the hair follicles so that when you go for more permanent removal it is far more difficult.

So you are able to get the very best from being at Susan's here are a couple of links we give to all our new members

Welcome to Susan's Place. Covering a beard is difficult and many of the products that were designed to do this are stage makeup. If you are looking for something local, consider a company that sells stage makeup. Some of the larger makeup providers may also have their version of the product so ask about it. Unfortunately makeup of this nature has to be applied on the heavy side so it works better at a distance or under darker lighting. Permanent hair removal is done by men for a number of reasons. Some don't like the 5 o'clock shadow look while others have problems like ingrown hair issues.

Thanks for the tips. I have looked briefly into Laser or Electrolysis, but have been on edge on whether to commit to permanent solutions yet. Stage makeup might be a good option short term option that I can look in to. Thank you.

There's some nice suggestions I know (all of these interfere with Lazer and electrolysis results , so don't do it if you want maximum success there):
-tweezering
-epilating with an facial epilator , electronic or springs
-waxing with hard wax Blue beans (this hurts less)
-hormonal creams
-threading

And here are other tricks I know:
-orange lipstick on the face
-wet your face with hot water then shave against the grain (this hurts more) , use Gillette Mach line
-clarisonic brushes and exfoliation helps too
-using veils or bandanas or other headgear  (it's actually fashion in some places)

Hope this helps you
