Hi Alison! Greetings from the USA! I'm new here too so HOORAY FOR NEWBS!

I know you said you're working out (And I assume that means exercising / fitness......If I'm wrong...oh well...oops. >_>) so I just want to recommend some exercises that will help with the feminine appearance and which to avoid!

-- For your waist, you can do twisting exercises...Stuff like bicycle crunches, stretches, anything that involves twisting at the waist should contour your waist toward a more feminine shape.
-- Squats for the booty!
-- Cardio! Cardio is big for women as it it's a good way to tone yourself without building too much muscle. Also will burn the most calories if you're looking to burn.
-- Try to avoid doing stuff with shoulders, backs, biceps and DEFINITELY avoid triceps....Big triceps are the basis of big beefy arms.

There's a lot of fun, easy full body work outs you can you look up on YouTube and they have some that are only about 10 minutes so you can do them you're short on time but still want to fit some exercise in. (I personally recommend Joahnna Soh. She's SOH awesome...hehe.)

Transguymac, thanks for the advice. I meant that I had decided (worked out) that I want to transition but you do bring up a very good point of "The best exercise for the Trans woman". I have run and cycled alot in the past and normally stayed away from gyms for the very point you bring up, getting too big. Being tall I always find it hard to find clothes if I'm not running enough.

For me even though I have seen doctors and spoken regards being trans, spoken with friends, bought it up with my wife once (which didn't go down too well so who know's where that's going to end up) I feel that because I haven't done anything about it I'm still at point one of becoming Alison.

So let the journey begin.

I bought it up with my wife soon after we met and weren't even engaged. Back then I considered myself a crossdresser who only dressed when I could (after talking with people and becoming more educated I have learnt that I'm transgender). She didn't like it because she told me she had dated someone before who was a crossdresser but then went out and cheated on her with a man so I therefore didn't want to hurt her and ensured I would never do that (cheat or be with a man because that's not who I am) so just dropped the subject.

I know it's in the back of her mind because over the years she has made comments regards transgender people and her feelings. Once we were watching the TV and a show about Caitlyn Jenner came on and she just looked straight at me a said "your never going to do that to me are you?". My obvious response was no.

We have discussed that i am not a man's man and like the finer things in life which she says is one of the reasons she married me so hopefully that will help when we finally sit down and I blurt it all out. But I'm not quite there yet.

   It sounds like she knows you are inclined to think along those lines. She sounds maybe a little insecure about things too? I have often wondered when people tell there SO about there secret feelings, what the best approach is. I told my partner before we were married. Well, as I understood it then. I personally think it is a mistake to blurt out, "I am trans." That says, "I made the decision, it is done, you had no part in figuring this thing out, now what do you say?" I think it is wiser to ease into it asking for help figuring things out because I am really struggling with this gender thing. To me, you then work it out as a partnership rather than one person saying, "Like it or lump it."

I totally agree with you. I don't want her to feel that I have made the choice to be trans, it's just who I am. I don't want her to feel that she has to like it or lump it, I love being trans and want her to be part of that, part of the discovery and education as a family.

For me right now it's about deciding when the best time is to bring this up and start the discussion on our future as a family.

I have just taken baby steps out of the closet. So far so good. My biggest fear is telling my husband. I assume he will be devastated.

Everyone on here is on different stages of transisoning and that makes this site a huge bunch of experience that can be shared. And reinventing the wheel is not nessesary.  I love it!
