BloodNeverLies

Hi there, I'm new to this website and I'm only just admitted to my Doctor's about my gender identity and what I want for my future as someone who is androgynous.

I'm posting this to find out more about people's experiences. I'm wanting to go on estrogen blockers but not T. That's mainly what I wanted to ask about? If someone has had top surgery without needing to be on hormones? I've got a health issue which is called osteoporosis so hormones could be dangerous for me. I've got a gender clinic appointment in a few weeks which will be my first. I don't know what to expect.

Look forward to replies,
Thanks,
Nikki.

Hello Nikki and Welcome to Susan's

I presume you are FtM are contemplating mastectomy? I think that as you are suffering from osteoporosis that you will require careful management by a competent endocrinologist. As you probably know the sex hormones, oestrogen and testosterone are major players in keeping healthy bone structure, once we go on blockers we usually get put on the other androgen pretty quickly. So do please work with your medics about this.

Anyway welcome and maybe let us all know a bit about yourself

You can have top surgery without being on T. A lot of us here have done that; myself included. I'm not sure about estrogen blocker but I would think the absence of any sex hormone would make osteoporosis worse and not better. With careful monitoring, T is accessible to people with all kinds of health issues. Don't count it out yet.

Thank you all for replying to my post, quite quickly too I might add.

I'm not counting it out. I'm androgynous but heading for a masculine appearance I've been disgusted with my chest ever since puberty. I don't belong in this curve body. Another question if it's not too personal, are they're any lesbians of ftm people who have had top surgery and still been in a gay or straight relationship? My family think that being a lesbian and removing my breasts then I won't get anyone who is attracted to me physically...

This doesn't affect my decisions. It's my body and I'm doing this for myself to finally be comfortable in my own skin.

Also, what would you like to know?
I'm a college student, just going into UNi for Sound Production and I'm from Scotland.
