So my whole life I succeeded very well at being a man I am very masculine looking and acting I have one of the most dangerous manly jobs in the world I've always been the alpha mans man's type. being that I did so well at being male. It's hard for me to visualize losing that and becoming a girly girl with really feminine manurisms. I can see how more feminine type guys who never did to well at the whole man thing.. you know someone more flamboyant would transition to that easily. But for me it's hard to picture and I want that badly. Is this something that eventually becomes natural over time with hrt and from looking and feeling like a woman. Or is it something I would really have to work at. I just want it to feel natural I don't want to feel like I'm acting people would see right through it and see I'm fake... Any thoughts or personal experience is much appreciated

Hi, Randy1980.

When you where very small did you know that you where a girl ? And all those people who told you to " man up " and play the " game " where; in fact, all quite wrong !
It's really easy to be a man, I can still do it but I choose not to... All those times I had to lie about how I really felt about my life and the people in it. I would watch the " real women " around me and beg to be sent free...
Just relax and you will find that little girl you left behind.

I'm a trial lawyer, former amateur bicycle racer and I've driven exotic cars on the racetrack.  Believe me, I was an alpha male.  What I found was that all of my male mannerisms were learned in late childhood or young adulthood.  A big part of unlearning them was to just let the hormones take over, relax, stop trying to be a man, and to get in touch with and follow my feminine instincts.

Once on hormones and dressed properly, I found that I liked to sit up straight instead of slouching.  I liked to curl up instead of man spreading when on a sofa watching a movie.  I like to sit up in the car with both hands on the wheel instead of doing the gangster lean.  And I like walking with my back straight and my butt and chest out and my feet close together instead of dong the ape walk.

My best advice is to try to get in touch with the more feminine elements of your childhood (example:  I played concert flute and collected girly bookmarks) in order to remember who you really are.  Just relax, get in touch with yourself and do what comes naturally.  It will come to you because it comes from your heart.

Hugs, Carly

Well when I was a little boy my earliest memories around 4 or 5 I can remember always wishing to become a girl every birthday that was my wish every shooting star that was my wish when I prayed I would be good to turn me into s girl. But at the same time I never had to have anyone tell me to man up I acted and enjoyed things all boy I think I may have been a Tom boy my mom called me little man and would say he's sll boy I liked action figures played on the dirt got in fights was competitive cars truck sports and I loved that stuff.. that's where I differ from a lot of transgender women I had no desire to play with dolls but at the same time I was sneaking my older sisters clothes and wearing them in secret I shaved my legs at 10 and would like to dress up but it was a deep secret.. thank you for the advice and I have been trying to feel and act more feminine around my wife when we don't have the kids and I can cuddle up in some cute PJs and watch a movie together

You've had your whole life to practice being a man. As everyone has said, try to relax. Study women in your area, how they move, dress, talk etc. Practice the bits that feel right. Not every woman is a girly girl, just as not every guy is a manly man. Play around with things. Enjoy yourself. If you've come to the conclusion that you are a woman, own it! Revel in the emotional freedom. And figure out your style. Good luck :)

I think you're still thinking about it, not dressing up and going out in public. Once you do it, commit to this social suicide act and break the biggest taboo in our society, you're no longer bothered by playing the tough guy role... For me, it means easing up my stiffness completely and becoming flamboyant and animated.

And as my male self, I'm on constant alert and ready to fight or flight...

Mannerisms are picked up and reinforced in people often because those around them validate the behavior and we subconsciously repeat what gets the reactions we want from people, whether we "want" to practice those actions or not. If you give new mannerisms a try and they work, you'll probably find yourself picking them up much easier than you think

Sounds like I will just have to put some effort towards it and it will start to come natural. Thanks everyone I'm excited to bring out the ultra feminine woman that's inside me
