Any women with SRS by Alexander Sinclair or Loren Schechter?

Hi all,

I've been mostly a lurker for years, but I'm finally gearing up for SRS and I'm wondering about other people's experiences with either Dr. Schechter near Chicago or Dr. Sinclair in Beverly Hills. Both are supposedly covered by my insurance, but I'm having hard time finding many testimonials/reviews on them.

Bowers, McGinn and other U.S. surgeons (besides maybe Rumer) are out of the question due to wait times.
Thai/International surgeons would be a hard sell to get covered.

Clearly part of it is they aren't the big dogs like Bowers, McGinn, even Suporn or Chett or Brassard, but if anyone would like to share their experiences please do!

Brassard is accredited in Michigan.
He has about 5 months waiting time from booking and is all inclusive, including materials like pads and a recovery facility.

Dr. Sinclair

Lets see:
Pee goes where it's supposed to go.
Good depth, have yet to be bottomed out.
No numb spots
Looks decent....could be better.  I like Dr. Meltzers two stage version.
No visible vertical scars
Smells nice, tastes great?  :P
Clitoris is responsive
Entire vaginal area is sensual (electric) to touch.  You feel it throughout body especially breasts...mine are small :(
Initial entry to vaginal canal (by a penis) is beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
Sexual Intercourse without traditional lube is doable...Spit works oil based lube is better.
I would not say I'm capable of self lubrication.
Feel orgasmic but have not experienced one while awake....a few while asleep...what a mess that was.
Dilation now once...twice a week with large Soul Source Orange Boy. I can get it in up to the top dot and thats it.

Whittier Community Hospital.
Very nice, respectful people
Liberal visiting rules and hours.
Private room.
State of art very very large OR.

Aftercare
Beyond compare if you live in the area...weekly checkups...no problem.
I did experience a prostrate infection that required some heavy duty antibiotics.  Resulted in a super smelly discharge from urethra.  Went totally away 90 days later.  No Smell, No Discharge = No Panties :)

Gee I think thats it.

Thank you,
Anne

Have you considered asking Meltzer ? He also does revisions.

Some people use a vaginal estrogen cream from time to time to help turn into a mucosa.
A cream from a gyn has a higher estrogen content than OTC creams.

Many people report a very slippery substance coming from the urethra. Not holding in then can help.

Dr Loren Schechter write a paper recently. You can download the pdf

Gender Confirmation Surgery: An Update for the Primary Care Provider

I don't like those results personally.

I'm FTM, but Schechter will be doing my bottom surgery this July. Had a great consult with him in February - very knowledgeable and friendly. At least in terms of what is available for FTMs, he seems to be more medically conservative. He won't do something just because you'd like it done if it would otherwise increase your risks. It's pretty contrary to the few other options we have for phalloplasty, but I appreciate the extra concern to health over preferences.

His office is also very communicative and easy to work with. They've done most of the legwork with my insurance and got me scheduled when it worked for me.

Can't speak to his MTF results, but cosmetically his FTM work is top notch. I've looked at a ridiculous number of post-op pictures from everyone I could find, and his are just excellent. But I'm sure it's a little different for you all.

Oh wow, I did not know that. Sounds like a great option, but I'm much further along with these two and under time constraints.

Thank you so much. This is exactly the kind of review I'm looking for. You're so lucky you live in the area, Anne! Hoping for a few more reviews like yours to show up, but it seems like there aren't many Sinclair or Schechter girls out there.  :(

How long did it take you to get those results recovery-wise?

Yeah, I think that's one of my biggest worries with him. He seems to be well-respected in the medical community, but he really seems to only have one example that he shows - even during consultation. :( I know he does presentations at conferences, maybe I'll see at Philly Trans Health in June.

And aesthetically, I like what I've seen from Sinclair a lot more.

That's great. Originally Schechter was my No. 1 choice after meeting him - but his office has been the exact opposite for me. Horrible communication with my insurance company which has caused an almost two month delay from when I was initially trying to have surgery. And I'm glad you've been able to find results, I've only been able to check out what he's published/shown which is essentially one image.

I appreciate the encouraging comments on this and other threads about Dr. Sinclair. I was considering Bowers because she now takes Medi-Cal but the wait is super long from what I hear. I live in LA, Sinclair takes my insurance and the few people that have used him report great results.

I'm less than 2 weeks away from having both surgery letters (crossing fingers) and was also recommended to Dr. Sinclair by a personal friend. Life seems to be pointing to him as the right one for the job.

Hey guys! I'm a little late to arrive at this page but I'm also considering Dr. Sinclair as my surgeon. Everything seems great with him but I'm just a little curious as to whether the inability to orgasm while awake may have something to do with the surgeon or if it's completely unrelated?
