There have been big changes lately. I have joined a support group. I enjoy this site and it has been a huge help to me in transition. I really felt the need to communicate with other people face to face who have been going through the same thing I am. For the first time ever I dressed in feminine clothes when I went out. It really felt good to be myself outside of the house. The group is very supportive. About 20 people came the first time I went and I went again last week. I am starting to get involved in the group and make friends with other MTF people. There is also a private chat room on Facebook that we can interact with each other. I also went out shoe shopping with my wife and openly bought female shoes. Another milestone. I am really feeling comfortable and have accepted myself as trans. What a difference. Completely happy and feeling good for the first time in years. Just had to share this. Everything is coming together.

Hi Brenda,

I am happy for you that you found a good group to join in with. It sounds like it is a good group for you and those needs you stated. Having other ways to interact is also a good thing. But please remember that we are here for you also should the need arise. Don't become a strange as your experiences wherever they occur may be of help to someone else in need.
Glad you are here and happy for you.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Brenda,

Congratulations!  It's a big milestone to go public, and I'm so glad to hear your experience was positive.  I'm also very encouraged to hear about your shopping with your partner.  This is one of my favorite things to do, and it also gives me some time and experience with a cis-woman.  Don't underestimate the importance of socializing with cis-women to help you pick up on the subtleties of life as a woman.  I'm becoming convinced that cis-women are, in general, FAR more accepting than men, and will generally enable your integration into "polite" society with even a modest effort on your part.  Now, grain of salt required, as I am a West Coast U.S. resident and thus have a head start.

Brenda, Such an inspiring update!  It must be such a joy to be developing friendships with people who "get" and accept who you are and how you feel.  And to shop with your wife, definitely an act of support on her part.  Thanks for sharing, Nancy

That's wonderful news to hear. I do love going out with my wife shopping for clothes and the sort. I haven't gone out in public yet but that day is coming.
