I'm a young male questioning my gender

Hi all,
I am a 13 yr old "boy" that really needs help. I understand I am quite young for his but please help. I never feel at home with my male friends and I seem to make many more female friends (not as in popular or girlfriends). I also don't feel at home in my male body and sometimes gel "trapped" or "stuck in it". Is there any possibility that I could be trans? When I was 4 or 5 I enjoyed dressing up as... princesses :-) (please no judge). And seemed to always feel at home with girls. Please help as soon as possible.

There's no such thing as being to young to question your assigned gender; just like how a non trans person (cis) isn't too young to feel comfortable with their assigned gender. If you're questioning it it's more than likely you're trans. Ask any cis person you get younger or older than you and it wouldn't occur to them their birth gender was wrong.

Whether you like or liked traditionally female things or not has no bearing on your gender. How you feel on the inside about what you're referred as and/or presenting as matters a whole lot more.

Indeed I get what you're saying. And no. It's not just that I like female things... It's also like kind of restating what I said in the other post, I feel like I'm not meant to be male. And again, I bond better with girls and I find them bond with me well. My male/female friends also point out that I have a very feminine way of thinking, not as an insult but just a fact. My cousins male/female also find that, kind of specifically the way I throw things is a very feminine stance and throw. I just want to know if it is possible that I am.

Oh and one more thing, would it be gold to bring this up with my therapist (whole 'nother story)

1) Talk to your parents (they need to know, the sooner the better)
2) ask them to bring you to a gender specialist (or a psychologist working with transgender patients) - you will need help to convince your parents that it's not a phase and to allow you to start taking testosterone. blockers asap

My dysphoira popped up right at your age, 13.. ten years ago in 2007. If you can, get the help now!!!! It will save you in the long run. Ask your parents to take you to see a gender therpasit. If however you are not too comfortable with that yet, and your dysphoira is not sevre or life threatening I would suggest wait and see your school counsellor in September. They should be versed well enough in this matter to give you the proper tools. Of course you can call the transgender hot line,

Look,
I would love to do that. Except for the fact that my dad is completely not involved in my life and my parents are divorced. My step-mother hates me. My mom is a very dedicated parent but she doesn't believe in any "medical conditions" I have a very hard time sleeping and it took her 2 ml the and my therapist saying the same thing g almost 5 times to finally let me get Melatonin. So I don't think that would work... I could bring it up with my therapist and see what she has to say and try to get my mom to believe me...

Welcome to Susan's Place. You managed to slip in while the other moderators weren't paying attention and I was at work. Oh well, I guess I need to fix that. It's very likely you are transgender as puberty has a way of waking up our feelings. I first understood what I was at age 13 though as time passed, the feelings became stronger. For now, you need to learn as much as you can about yourself. I have two links that will help you with this. The first is our WIKI where you will learn what transgender means. Please seek professional help as soon as possible, don't worry about the present situation because the potential benefit of getting help will be worth thousands when you realize it. A stitch in time, saves nine.

Hi Will/Evelyn,

I echo the advice of seeking conciliating.  Your current therapist or a councilor at school might be able to help. But even better would be to see a councilor or psychologist well versed in gender issues, and certainly one who is not hostile to trans people (and there are some).

I hope you can come out to your Mom.  Getting an advocate for your well-being is so important.

I think you can buy time if blockers are prescribed to delay puberty. This is not an irreversible thing - it would just buy time until you and your therapist get this figured out.

So many of us finally became aware and/or summoned up the courage very late in life.  The good news for you is this:  even if you are not successful in making changes now, for whatever reason, you will be legally emancipated at age 18 and 100% free to make your own decisions then. Those who transition at this early age do very well.
