Hello Everyone,

I know this procedure isn't popular as you hardly hear about it and I've heard a lot of negative comments about it (usually from people who have had the penile inversion technique) but I would like to hear from someone who has had this procedure and hear their take on it.

While it's not popular it reputably has a lot of potential positives such as it doesn't require lifelong dilation, it self-lubricates, thick walled and much more tolerant to trauma, huge natural blood supply, large in diameter, it can be made to depths of 9 or more inches, fewer external scars for a more realistic ascetically pleasing vagina, it reportedly feels more realistic then a penile inversion vagina (to the man...I'm not sure about the women but orgasm is apparently possible), and its ready to go at any time.

The negatives I have heard (and the responses to): it stinks (smell reportedly goes away in 6 month), to much lubrication creating a vaginal discharge (dramatically drops in flow after 3 to 6 months to non-excessive levels), It is a more intensive surgery as you're cutting not only your genitals but your colon as well (a good surgeon would help mitigate any potential issues in that respect), it costs more than penile inversion (its two surgery's in one).
So my questions for the women who have had this surgery are:

1.   Is everything I heard correct?
2.   Is there good sensation?
3.   Do you regret not getting a penile inversion and if so why?

I appreciate your time in answering this question.

Hugs
Emily

While it's a very old surgery that they were preforming when I had my surgery, there are a couple of more items to consider. PI often reaches depths of up to 6 inches. With the 2 additional inches just needed to get to the opening, I suspect it will be difficult to find many men over 8 inches in length.

In the early days, there was a risk of complications, in particular the intestinal tract closing up in the healing process. I am not sure what the current experience on that is but it's a discussion you should have with the doctor.

As for dilation, I was able to go 10 years without dilation and within a few weeks with my full sized dilator at twice a week, I was back to my post surgical size. Had I been sexually active, that wouldn't have been an issue. Dilating once every week or two is sufficient to maintain a PI vagina and there is no reason you can't make it "entertaining".

PI does required following the dilation schedule for the first year or two but it's not a life time commitment.

I would consider a recto-sigmoid vaginoplasty as a corrective surgery or in the case of insufficient material to work with but I would be nervous considering it as a primary surgery when PI is possible.

Part of the risk is that there are very few posts about that kind of surgery, and no independent photo's of the surgeons work (that I know of). For the other surgeons and techniques you can often find a fair number of each.

I'm not exceptionally long to begin with so I'm concerned that even if they were able to achieve 6 inches of depth (deeper then I am long...hey you in the back stop laughing) I would be fighting to keep it that depth. I may never find a man I want to have sex with as I am attracted to women but with hormones and the introduction of new equipment that may change... I would probably try it at least once just to see what it was like but you just never know and in the moment I really don't want to be telling someone sorry your to big.

I have read a little on the surgery and most modern doctors (not going to say all because there is always that one out there) are supposedly now using robotic techniques to perform the surgery and the colon never actually leaves the body assisting in reduction of healing time that along with the knowledge that the segment needs to be taken sufficiently away from the anus should mitigate the potential for complications... don't take this as me discounting what you are saying I have just been looking at this.

The dilation schedule doesn't bother me it was just an added benefit to not have to do it but if I had to do it I doubt I would do anything more then one with out making it entertaining so yes I would be doing that  ;)

That's the issue I think I may be bordering on insufficient material and want to be informed of the positives and negatives before I just write something off... its easy to go into a consultation and by off on buy off on what ever the doctor says but in the end the only one looking out for you is "you" and I want to be informed.

Again thank you for responding to my post I really appreciate it.

The lack of discussion and information about this was part of the reason I asked these questions as I'm hoping that this thread not only helps me in my decisions but anyone who wants to know more information about the procedure in the future and as for photos I have found one site  that had some pictures directly attributed to the procedure which was http://www.genitalsurgerybelgrade.com/mtf_surgery_detail.php?Sigmoid-colon-technique/2 (click on the blue box) but be careful there is another page on that site that deals with women getting the surgery (one of the go to techniques for women as they have no penis to invert) if you start looking around and get confused and view those pictures you will think wow that looks natural...because it is (plants face in hands in embarrassment).

Thank you for responding  :)

Yeah I was going to second Dr. Kaushik at transgendersurgeryworld from everything I've read on him and the girls who have posted about their experiences with him here on Susan's he's the reason I'm seriously considering this route.
