Did anybody else get this?

I was curious if anyone, after first deciding that they were TG, had begun to notice Transgender or Transsexual things more often in the media. Some people may argue that it is just cause you're NOTICING IT, but the occurrence of things involving gender issues on TV, or with friends joking about it (They still don't know about me...) or with anything else has risen sharply. I'm starting to think that a lot of things are genuinely connected, and it scares me. Its almost like all of this stuff is a warning to me.

A CSI episode about a feminized boy from contaminated lake water
To my brother, and then 3 other friends making random jokes about TSs when they never joke about stuff like that usually

To other stuff.

And its all what my MOM watches. So I fear its just stressing her out more.

Anyone else get this? Its so scary. :(

No I haven't noticed any increase in transsexual media attention in the U.K..

Yes. In the USA there seems to be a lot of TS/TG stuff in the media lately. I knew someone who transitioned about 10 years ago and so I notice when this stuff comes up. And it has been more noticeable the last year or so.

I think TS and gays
are on a slow upswing in the
media since Boys don't Cry in the late 90's.

Right now, there's a major popular show
with a TS character: Ugly Betty.
Another one (which may be cancelled soon),
with a TS actress.
There's been a quantity of interviews on Oprah, Barbara
walters, etc. In the last year.
Transamerica was a pretty popular movie by a
high profile actress (instead of the usual movie of the week variety).

Almost all crime procedurals have had a TS victims and
sometimes killers (criminal minds)
within the last 2 years, CSI, SVU, etc. The latest,
"cold case" where there was a essentially gay FTM in the 60's
as their victim.

Since I came out 2 1/2 years ago, I have noticed more media attention to TGs. I saw 'Transamerica' two years ago and it opened my eyes as to what transitioning is about and the mental adjustments that go with it. I think that I'm paying more attention to TG matters also. I really don't remember a lot of movies and attention TG received before but I think it's great that people are noticing.
