(This isn't a new account, just didn't want to use my other account since it shows the surgeon I went to in my post history.)

So I had ffs about 25 days ago, the procedures I had were type III, orbital reduction, rhinoplasty, lip lift, chin augmentation, and jaw contouring with a minor cheek lift.

And although there is still some swelling in and around the jaw area and the nose, I am not very happy with the results of my nose and lip lift.  I don't know how to describe it as I think they did a great job with everything but the nose and lip lift.  I think the nose is mainly the swelling but the lip lift looks like they only lifted the middle and not the whole upper lip, giving me a weird look.  As for my nose, it looks huge, mainly the tip.

I understand that it must be the swelling but I still am not sure how that would equate to my lip looking so odd.

I thought about posting a picture but am not really comfortable in doing so at the moment.

I was just curious as to about how long it took after surgery for someone to actually start seeing the results.  Sorry, maybe I am just whining and depressed about this whole thing.  The surgeon I went to is very well regarded in this community and was touted as one of the best by my doctor, therapist, and others.  The after care was also excellent and he and his staff were wonderful.

I admit that at 3 to 4 weeks post facial surgery (I went to Meltzer, back when he was still in Oregon) that I was wondering if I'd just made a very expensive and painful mistake.  As it turned out, though, there was just a lot of swelling that took 3 months to settle down to the point that I could actually see what my results really were.

I did need revisions, though.  Scar revisions (forehead, lip lift), an adjustment to the positioning of my chin, and a little more burring of the mandible to even things out.  These were all done at no cost by Meltzer when I went in for my SRS consult, and under twilight sedation; I went back to my hotel the same day.

I've been extremely happy with my results.
What you look forward to has already come, but you do not recognize it.

Dear winterwind

Well... 25 days is a short time. The nose will take a while until the swelling is totally gone and the lip will also settle down... I think you should calm down for the moment... ;)

Take care...  :)

I think for the nose, its mainly swelling - takes MONTHS to go away in the nose! For the lip, its an unfortunate issue with a lip lift that it can only lift the center of the lip, the incision is just the width of the nose, so that is the only part that can be lifted. It may be worth considering a V-Y lip augmentation which doe snot really lift the lip but makes more of the red of the lip visible, visually lifting the lip a bit. It can compensate for a bit too much center part lip lifting ans also affects the sides.

Thank you, I'm actually contouring it and it doesn't look too bad but with the swelling along with everything else, I guess I am worried about what the final result will be.  I think I am comparing myself to so many others who were incredibly happy with their results a month after surgery whereas I'm still not sure.

Also, I have never heard about the VY lip augmentation but thank you for suggesting it, I will definitely look it up.

I agree with the others, it takes months for nasal swelling to go down.  The first 1-2 months after my surgery I thought I also made a huge mistake about my nose.  I now look back at pics from then and its ridiculous how swollen I was (and I didn't think I was swollen)  Give it time. You may love it and you may not, but right now I would say it's really too soon to tell.  Best!! xo
