I shave my legs but don't usually expose them. However, about 6 or 7 months ago, I showed up at work with my freshly shaved previously VERY hairy arms and nobody said anything. A few looks, but that's it... People don't really care. They may find it different at first, but then they get used. Excuse? "Because I wanted!" [emoji4]

This is my experience as well, no one really cares.

The only questions I've ever had were from family and close friends, which I just say "because I wanted to" and that's usually the end of that. I did take notice at the gym that some of the men shaved their legs, mostly guys that hang out in the weights.

I am finding that on body changes that are visible, if you just own it- other people will not care or question. When you get self conscious is when people poke, seems weird but confidence really makes a big difference in how people perceive and interact with you.

1st time, summer of '73, literally skinned both shins, hair never grew back. No one cared.

2nd time, summer of '86, GF claimed my skin was softer than hers. Oh well!

3rd time, summer of '13, "are you shaving?" from a peer, but she didn't blink.

Apparently hating leg hair is okay in some circles.

I was asked two times if I shaved my legs; once by my daughter and the other by a woman in a running group I was with.  I just said that the hair just doesn't grow there anymore.  That was mostly true since it is so light and fine and grows so slow as to be virtually invisible and at that time I really hadn't shaved them for over five months.

That was after I had stopped DIY HRT and was in my final session of fighting this thing.  Even after a couple of years the hair never came back.

Btw, shaving legs is a very annoying chore. You'd need to do it every other day or have stubble. I recommend waxing or epilator. More painful (but not intolerably), yet you can do it once every two weeks

Omg, I was just about ask about epilators on legs and arms!  I used one on my chest.  Took a couple of days to get it all. Smooth.

My grandpa asked me if I had shaved my legs once when I was 14. I told him no I hadn't shaved my legs, I had waxed them. All he said was that no one likes a little smartass.Lol

Everything smooth for many many years, have yet to have a single person mention anything, not even back in boy mode days.

Kinda believe nobody really cares these days 😉

I just shaved my legs two days ago. The first time ever, so you can imagine how difficult and timetaking it was. Anyway, besides the itching, I got no other "complications". No one has asked anything yet but I assume when I go outside I'm mostly wearing jeans pants since it is getting cold and rainy in here hahaha. But even if someone ever does come to ask me anything, I'll be honest: I just wanted to do that! :-)

And I did and I appreciated it, therefore, I'll most probably keep doing that, hahaha. Same for my nails, I got them red a week ago and I just told people that I did it because I wanted to and, incredibly, they were just okay with it.

I just started shaving my legs and I'm worried people will notice. Are there any good excuses for shaving legs?

I had laser done years ago.  No hair and no comments.

I haven't shaved my legs since I got an epilator.
As far as what to say if anyone asks, just tell the truth: "I thought the hair looked bad, so I got rid of it".

Yes it is chore, but I actually don't mind doing it. I still shave with a razor and I also have to do it every other day.. I also shave my arms..  I hate stubble. My legs and arms must be silky smooth.

I do get them waxed from time to time.. when i treat myself to a day of beauty and pampering.. I like how long it lasts. I dont wax and home, as I just don't have the time in the morning.. I normally shave my legs in the shower

And after waxing, you have to buff up a shine.  ;-)

I usually shave my legs from fall to spring.  I keep them covered up since I'm still not out yet.

At one point I had been shaving my legs for a month before my wife even noticed.

A little trick I used to do years ago. I would purchase Medium Dark self-tanning lotion and spread on my legs (also sometimes total body). This works great to cover any "evidence" of shaved legs. Anyone would have to look very close to notice any hairlessness on dark legs. I had to be careful, though. I am so light-skinned that going too dark would look unnatural. Julia, you are like me (well, somewhat) in that regard!  ;)

I've been shaving my legs for about a month now. In the southern US shorts are pretty much mandatory most of the year, so I was pretty paranoid about it - for the first week or so. Absolutely nobody has said a word. I don't think they even notice. It's been long enough now that if I do get questioned, I'll just tell them I haven't been hairy down there for a long time. I get to define what "long time" means.

I do need to keep on top of it, though. Stubble would be a dead giveaway. I actually enjoy shaving in the shower, unless I'm in a big hurry. I can go every other day if I need to.

I tried an epilator just once. OUCH. I wasn't properly prepared, though. I understand the first couple of times it helps to take some ibuprofen an hour or so ahead of time, and the more you do it the less it hurts. I may give it another shot.

I know this isn't strictly on topic, but I have devised a workaround for those that are unable to shave for whatever reason, be it temporary or longer term.

The workaround involves matte finish dance tights - whether footless, stirrup or otherwise, in a colour closest to your skin tone, worn underneath your main legwear.  In my experience it can work pretty well :

I hope this helps some other ladies in a similar predicament...

This is something I had wrestled with for ages. What if someone sees..what will they think and so on. Over the last month or so I've finally come to realize that nobody (with the exception of your other half) will care. My wife isn't bothered either as long as I'm happy on the leg hair front and simply shrugged and said okay when I said I'd like to always keep them smooth.

What excuse , nobody cares.

Ditto!! Agree . . . my legs are bare, wear shorts alot *never shave* what are people gonna say??

In the south ankle socks, usually white, are real popular too!!
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

I started saying to close friends that I wondered what it felt like and now I say to anyone who asks why on earth wouldn't you shave! That tends to work.

There are plenty of people who are cis that wax or shave because they like the way they look without the hair.  It only means to people what you say to them (the few who care anyway).
