Greetings Everybody,

My Name is Bailey.  I am a 39 year old identifying as a female.  For about the past 15 years or so, I have had very strong feminine desires and tendencies.  I act, dress, and think feminine.  I have expressed to my doctor the desire to start HRT, however due to some significant medical conditions, even though she is highly supportive of me living as a female and the want to completely change my gender, she has very strongly advised against any HRT and most definitely any genital reassignment surgeries.  So, that said, most just simply see me as a male with a cross dressing fetish.  I am joining this forum because I would like to find the support and encouragement for me to be me, that I haven't been able to find in my own family.  I do have some close friends that know.  I've even come out to my 18 year old daughter.  Luckily, she accepts me for who I am.  I would also like to meet new people close to me who are also struggling with their own identity and even those who have gone through full transition with all the support from their own friends and family.  I look forward to sharing stories, offering encouragement and advice and showing my support to other users.

Hi Bailey, welcome!
I recently hit 40, and started living full-time as a woman only a few months ago.
I'm sorry your situation prevents some of the more typical medical routes,  but glad to hear that your daughter is understanding.
If you haven't yet, talking with a qualified therapist can help you explore what you need to find a happy balance in your life.
Due to the wonderful NHS in the UK,  I lived several months full-time before I started HRT,  it is certainly achievable,  and I personally found it really helped my mental and emotional state. It really comes down to what you need,  and finding the confidence to take it. Good luck, and we're here if you need us. X

Hi Bailey!

I am MTF from Seattle.  Sounds like you have thought things out quite a bit, as I have for my own path.

I don't want to question the guidance of a medical professional as I am not one myself.  But I am curious if your doctor is an endocrinologist or consulted with one, and whether your doctor provided GRS guidance with or without the input of a licensed gender therapist.  If either of those professionals were missing from this, what you have is just that - guidance but not a decision.  Perhaps your doctor suggested further consultation with those additional data points and that didn't happen.  But if your general doctor arrived at this conclusion without any analysis from specialists in these two fields, if I was in your shoes I would consider finding a different general practitioner.

It is quite possible you have conditions that increase the risk of some types of medical care - but a simple yes/no answer doesn't sound right to me.

We have member who moved into the feminine life without surgery or HRT. How successful you  will be depends somewhat on your starting point but facial hair removal, makeup and hair can go a long way towards feminizing your appearance. In addition, HRT isn't always off the table as low dose or a different approach to treating your condition may allow you to safely receive HRT. Just let us know where you want to go and we will be happy to start dishing out the advice.

Thank you everybody, glad to be here!  On a positive mote from my intro, I walked into the gym yesterday fully dressed clothes, wig, shoes, etc......and as I approached the counter to check in, the sweet lady behind the counter smiled and greeted me with a, "hey babe!"  This very small gesture was a HUGE confidence booster!

Hi Bailey!!!

Welcome aboard sister!!! My husband and I love Austin and make it down there a couple times a year for concerts at The Paramount, Gruene Hall, The Parish etc as well as BBQ in Lockhart and The Ironworks!

Please don't let your medical issues stop your from living your life in the manner that you choose... I have a friend living full time who has a similar situation due to heart issues...she is making it work and living life on her own terms!!!

Onward we go brave sister!!!!

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense of the false persona, it is not you... Let go of the armor that you have worn for a lifetime, to serve the expectations of others and, to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face.... amg🌸
