I wonder if their is some PC software out there I can speak into a mic-headset and measure my pitch. I practice on my cats but they can only look at me and meow in response  ;D

If you have an Ipad my speech therapist uses Sonneta voice monitor. Cost $35  If you have android or pc I suggest Da Tuner. It's a free app and I think it was like 3 bucks to upgrade. Created for musical instruments I use it for practising my pitch.

For a PC or apple computer Praat is a good tool to work with. It's not realtime but it's free.

There are plenty tools, some free. Many come under the category of instrument tuner.

If you search for the text "gram" on the following page, there is a tool called gram...

I think it is free but you'll have to check.

Magic stave will measure your pitch...not very sophisticated but easy to read...Virtuoso is what I use as a tool to get my Pitch ...it is a piano keyboard with the various Pitch numbers on the keys, F3 is about 175 Hz to G3 about 195Hz(?) is my comfortable range and I can do as high A3 but not for long.

Praat can give you a detailed breakdown of things like your average/mean Hz as well as the minimum and maximum Hz in a voice sample for comparison week to week/month to month.

On my android I've been playing with something just labeled simply Voice Pitch Analyzer (whose icon is purple linked male and female symbols to distinguish it), not sure how it compares to others in features but it's completely free amd seems to work. It was one of the highest rated on the playstore so went with it. Shows history over time and per session averages and ranges.

Audacity is freeware and can do this too.

Remember that frequency is logarithmic. In the male range, a difference of 20hz gets you 3 semitones or more. Once you're entering female range, it's less than 2.

Thanks for all the tips. I have a PC and Android. I hear Apple is better for voice, but I am not in that world.

I've also been using the Voice Pitch Analyser app on my Android phone. I've been tracking my voice since about March to see what T is doing to it.

So far, no changes to my (female) speaking voice, but I can go down pretty damn low if I try. I just don't try.
