SmartNerdGirl

Hello, there. I'm Isabel. I'm 13 and I live in Michigan. I am demi-homoflexible and cupiosexual. My gender is very complicated. I don't just stick to one label. I consider myself to be demipolygender and plerugender. So I'm NB, or Genderqueer. I experience a lot of hella dysphoria. About my huge chest, and I used to have a little bit about my hair. But just yesterday I cut it and I feel so, so free. I feel valid and truly beautiful. I didn't really know I had dysphoria about it. I liked it. But when I cut it most of my depression went away, and it turned out that most of it was linked to my subconscious dysphoria, even when I thought I was cisgender. So I'm ultra happy right now. I love books and reading, I like talking about sexuality and gender, I like talking about smart things, and other. I hope that's cool.

Welcome to the site SmartNerdGirl.

Wow. You are so lucky to have the freedom to explore your gender identity as such a young age.  I think that's great. It's what the struggle is all about.

Hi Isabel!

I wish I had your insight and opportunities when I was 13.  I was very happy overall until I was age 11 and then things gradually became quite confusing in my world.  I am finally now transitioning, I have been thinking a lot and realize many things I suddenly enjoy again now are things I appreciated before I went into puberty.  It's like there is this huge gap in my history.  I was okay overall but would have done better if I'd had more flexibility and understood myself earlier.

Best wishes and I am so glad you joined.  Welcome!

Kendra

Hi Isabel,

Welcome to the site.

We are glad to have you here and you are welcome to browse almost anywhere here. I do want you to know that we have a category that is called youth talk. It is aimed at under 18 members. Not patronizing but knowing sometimes it is easier/good to talk to people nearer your own age.

I have no problems discussing things but am much older than you. As a matter of fact, I have three teens. The oldest was assigned female at birth and is non binary. They like to read more than anything, except make up stories and write. They also like to mix up fashion. Skirt and shirt with pants, a vest and tie and their hair up in pig tails. Like Kendra and some others I am more binary in the MTF realm.

Hope you find good discussions here. Are your parents aware of your identity? If you need some support for them we have a section that is for significant others. Not just romantic but friends, parents, siblings and family.

Take care,

Warmly

Jacqui
