Question About Bras and Breast Forms

Hello. Recently, I've been looking into getting breast forms. I am a bit confused about how they work, though. Many breast forms seem to be paired with a special "pocketed" mastectomy bra, even though the breast forms I've been browsing are loose (no straps). Do you need to wear pocketed bras with breast forms, or can I wear just any old bra with the forms? I ask this, because I wanted to try bras from several vendors, and I was wondering if I specifically had to buy mastectomy/pocketed bras to work with my breast forms. I'd prefer to just wear a normal women's bra. Thank you!

I don't have "real" breast forms, just bags of water (kinda cheap . But they work ok in a full coverage bra as long as I don't run or jump much. But a pocketed bra would work better.

Some breast forms can be glued to your chest (I obviously haven't tried them) so they would stay put. Their descriptions talk about this if they're compatible. Also read reviews because people discuss their experiences with the various types.

I use currently breastforms. They are not 'attachable',  and I use normal underwired non-pocketed bras. I've not had any issues, but I do avoid trampolines,  rollercoasters and dangling upside-down 😁

I am using breast enlargement filets aka (chicken fillets) from a local bra shop in a normal underwire bra. Took a couple of goes the get right cupsize but I haven't had any problems. I don't go around jumping tho.

I had one fall out of my first bra when I bent over one day I because I didn't get the right size originally but once that was sorted they have been fine.

I will add that full-cup bras work best to hold them in place,  I personally avoid push-up and balcony styles,  as there is more chance of 'loosing' one.

I sleep in mine and not had one come out yet , underwired M&S bra . Not wearing them out yet and I wont be wearing a strapy top or plunge style as the top edge shows so need to cover up a bit

A well fitted bra with a full cup works as well as a pocket bra as mentioned by others. The advantage of using regular bras is that there is a much greater selection of styles, colors and cost. I occasionally use double sided tape made specifically for breast forms for additional security. You will need to make sure that the breast forms can be used with double sided tape otherwise they could be damaged.

I use normal non pocketed or underwired bras with my forms, i recently bought some new forms and got them slightly smaller this time, Iv'e also tried sticking these new ones with breast form tape and its a nice feeling but not that much of a difference, a good bra will work just as well.

I have Amolux from The Breast Form store! A little costly but You can as I do sleep with them. Self sticking. Keep them clean and ur chest clean and shaved. You can use them with all Bras or no bras. Enjoy!

I often wear gel push up chicken fillets, using the banana shaped ones in the base of my bra cups.

I love to carry nipple pumps on my breasts, and these fillets molded around them give me lots of support and shape.

My first breast form is DIY one. I made it for water crystal gel and balloon. It was extremely realistic and it felt like the real thing.
I don't like those insert breast forms. I prefer one that are I can wear even without a bra. They come with gel glue that will attach to you skin without any problem.

We are all different, of course, but I will never forget the first time I wore forms (at a transformation studio).  After that, I knew that I had to have my own and I LOVE them!  Although I agree that you do not need to wear them with a pocket bra, I suggest getting a pocket bra as one of many bras you will want to own and wear.  I like the feeling of wearing my forms in a pocket bra--they are held close to the chest, they jiggle, and the nipples project through the thin material (making it fun to wear under a cami or thin blouse).  Pocket bras are often sold by retailers like the breastform store that sell forms, and they are relatively inexpensive.  Why not get one?  I have two--one white, one black.

I know know everyone says go get measured. Today I follow a online guide and between my strap size and bust size there's only maybe a 1/2" difference. I measure 48" and 48.5. Then they say round down to the nearest even number. How do i translate this to sizes?

One thing to remember with attachable forms is that the larger they are, they harder they are to maintain the attachment.

Hi Jazmine, That's called being flat chested and in no need for a bra. And it's doubtful you'll find one with cups that small. So now that you have your band size just figure out what size cups you want.


RedPanda: My current forms are from thebreastformstore.com. I use a combination of skin tac wipes and double sided tape to keep them in place. I wear all types of regular bras(even pushups) and they stay perfectly well. I can even go braless with them.

If you look around enough it's possible to find bralettes made with stretchy elastic that work for very small cup sizes. Don't assume that just because something's called a "bralette" that it will fit a smaller size,  though. I've bought one stating it was for "nearly A" that would require nearly a B cup to fill. As with all womens' wear sizing is pretty much a trial and error matter. This is especially true of bras.
