Really scared to bind

I've been considering binding but I am really scared to try it. There are so many horror stories and it seems like even in a best-case scenario, wearing a binder can cause breast to sag. I have a CIS male partner and I can't do anything that will permanently change my breast appearance... Maybe I should try a sports bra instead. I have never worn either before. My breasts are mid sized I guess. I have not measured them yet. Looking for reassurance or advice...

Seijun, a few questions, why do you want a flatter chest? Your male partner doesn't want to you too, so do you want to be taken as a girl? What size normal bra do you wear? The right sports bra will make you look much flatter and not make you necessarily sag.

Sagging will only happen after years of constantly wearing a binder. I started wearing binders consistently for 3 years with my chest unchanged. And binding is only dangerous if you buy the cheap binders with clasps that don't let you breath out fully and constrict your ribcage. I've found GC2B binders to be the best brand. I can wear one all day with no chest pain whatsoever and they're designed for trans mens bodies. With Underworks I found my ribs hurt after just a few hours of use and the material wasn't great.

The sports bra method didn't really work to make my chest flat. And I used to wear one normally the right size and one a size smaller worn back to front other that one. Which caused some rib pain.

I'm a large B cup btw so not exactly small chested

@mm: I identify as male/non-gendered. I wish I could have top-surgery, go the whole nine yards, start T-therapy, all that, but my partner is not supportive of anything that will cause a permanent change. Because of this, I have chosen to keep my body female. However, I am still searching for non-permanent ways to appear less female while I am at work. I think I might be a size C? I have never measured them before. I don't wear bras.

I bought my binder at GC2B. I love it. No chest pains or pain anywhere. I'm unfortunately a size XXXL/XXL in chest size. But that binder does some magic. My chest is not completely flat, but that is ok for now, I am losing weight for health resons and my chest will shrink as I lose weight.

If your chest is small enough to get away with not wearing bras in public, then honestly, you should be able to pass with just a sports bra.

That said, just trying out a binder isn't going to do any permanent harm unless you do something reckless like heavy lifting or ignoring pain.  It takes months or years for the sagging to kick in, and for lots of guys, that's more a result of T than binding. T redistributes fat and messes with breast density.

And  if sagging is a huge concern for you, remember that not wearing a bra at all is also going to contribute to major sagging in the long run. If you really are a C cup, a binder might actually be better in that department because it'd at least provide some support.

A good quality binder is no more likely to damage you over the short term than most bras. I would try a good sports bra first and see how you like it.

Thank you all for the advice.
I only get away with not wearing a bra in public because I refuse to do so. Wearing one when I was younger only reminded me every day that I was female.. I will try a GC2B binder on my next paycheck.

I'd take the happiness with your body over being with that boyfriend. The body will last longer. Plus age will change breast appearance eventually.

I use Underworks tri-top binders, and they don't give me any more problems than a bra does.

When I first started binding, I didn't know that many men actually push/pull their chest down towards their abdomen, so I simply flatten my chest against my ribcage, position my nipples in a natural position and I'm good to go.  Doing so gives me the illusion of having pecs, and since I'm pretty muscular anyways, it works.

Mind you, I'm a D-cup, nearly a DD, so a GC2B binder probably wouldn't give me the flatness I need.

Good luck.

Ryuichi
